Yet again, K.A. Linde has written another out of this world enemies to lovers' novel. Seriously, she is the queen of writing this genre and I will always auto-buy. If you are a fan of enemies to lovers this book is going to hit your happy spot.
English, whose first name is Anna, has been put in charge of making sure the playboy of New York Court Kensington stays out of trouble long enough for his mother to win the election. English was just got the worst news ever after finding her 5-year marriage wasn’t as strong as she thought it was. Though with being around Court 24/7 now, she isn’t sure she will be able to keep her feelings for him from coming out.
“You are the playboy of the Upper East Side. I was literally hired to make you look like a good person. Just because I am fooling everyone else does not mean that you can try to fool me.”
Court Kensington has been fooling people his whole life, he just hasn’t let anyone see the real side of him. That is until English becomes his full-time babysitter. After learning that the woman he loved for two years swindled him and others out of millions of dollars, he now has to be on his best so his mother can be re-elected. Being on his best behavior isn’t Court’s forte. English isn’t giving him much of a choice but to change his stripes. However, Court can’t help but to have feelings for English and show her sides of him he has kept from others. Though will English be able to get over her ex and be with him or she will go back to her movie star husband?
“You catch the ball in the head of the lacrosse stick. The stick part is called the shaft…..head and shaft” English
“I can’t with you.” Court
This book was everything I was expecting for Court and English and so much more. The playboy has a soft side and English may be a tough as nails PR rep, but damn she has come clawing up from the bottom. Everyone was written perfectly. I want nothing more than to be besties with English, not because she could get me out of sticky situations, but she is driven and doesn’t let anyone get away with S*&%. When English wants the truth she doesn’t wait, she goes right to the person and gets it out of them. I love that about her. Court is not the person I thought he was, he is sort, but oh so hard in all the right ways! I was also able to understand his background with little her and there from his mom and brother and of course not so great history with his dad.
In true K.A. Linde fashion, she gave us a snippet of Katherine and Camden’s upcoming book. You guys I am on pins and needles about finding out what’s going on with that crazy couple. Until then I think everyone needs to read this book. Yes, this book is standalone, but if you want a little more info on both English and Court, I recommend reading the one before this.
Court gets involved in a scandal with his ex that messes up his reputation and because his mother is in the middle of a reelection campaign, she decides to hire a publicist to clean up his mess. Court doesn't want to be controlled, so he hates Anna English, the publicist, at first sight. Anna had a perfect relationship with her husband until everything blows up. Now, she has to deal with her life falling apart while she needs to clean up Court's playboy image and keep him from messing up. But the surprising hardest part about it all is to keep herself from breaking her number one rule: never sleep with a client.
The sparks between this two, the tension, the angst, the lust, the push and pull were absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop reading it! I never thought Court would be one of my favorite characters in this series, I honestly didn't see that coming, but he definitely is my top #1 after reading this book. I also loved Anna, her passion for her job, her strength, she was a queen in the way she handled her ex husband and I admired her through the whole book. I think she is one of the strongest female characters that Linde ever wrote and I loved her layers too.
Court and Anna together are complicated, intense, hot, sizzling, surprising and so, so sweet. I loved their story to pieces and I wasn't expecting to love this two so hard. I think K.A. Linde did an amazing job with these characters and this Upper East Side world.
The Hating Season is a captivating, fast-paced, intriguing, angsty, steamy, well written enemies to lovers romance with remarkable characters set in a Upper East Side World when nothing is exactly what it seems. I highly recommend this series and I'm dying to read the next book: Katherine & Camden's story!

Really enjoyed reading the banter between English and Court, he’s so much more than I thought he’d be. They had goosebump chemistry throughout the book.
