The game has multiple modes to choose from, so I'll give a brief synopsis of them now.
Rhythm Game- This is where you'll likely spend most of your time in the game. Project Diva F has a rather diverse song selection of around 40 tracks. The songs cover multiple genres from rock to pop (they are almost all extremely catchy though). I don't speak a word of Japanese, but even I find these songs to be surprisingly good. You start with a small selection of songs and unlock new ones as you progress through the rhythm game. There are four different difficulties (Easy, normal, hard, and extreme), and depending on which song you are playing (and how good you are at the game), even easy mode could pose a slight difficulty. All-in-all, an incredibly woryhwhile experience that is fun, addictive, and rewarding. I say rewarding due to the fact that completing songs gets you DP (Diva Points), which you use to buy various costumes/modules, accessories, gifts for the characters, and room items (we'll get to the last two soon).
Studio- In the studio, there are two different modes. They're not TOO significant, but I'll cover them here briefly. Live Studio allows you to listen to select tunes by Miku on a simulated stage (again, not too significant, but there are some songs in this mode that you can't play in the Rhythm game, so if you like the music like I do, that could play a role in you visiting this mode from time to time). Photo studio is a mode allows you to take photos of the vocaloid characters. Nothing too exciting about that, but you can use your own photos as backgrounds for the photos you take here, so that's something.
Diva Room- This is by far the strangest (yet intriguing) mode. Here, you bond with Miku and the gang by petting their heads and giving them gifts. You can also decorate each of their rooms with the stuff you unlock throughout the rhythm game. There are also minigames to be played here, but because I've spent all my time with Rin, I've only experienced the minigame called "Made You Look". It's a monotonous version of rock, paper, scissors where you play rock, paper, scissors, THEN you try to guess which direction Rin will look. If you guess wrong, it's a draw, and that round was a waste of time (I'm not a fan of this minigame...) Anyway, as you bond with them, you'll unlock room items that are relative to the character you're bonding with.
Edit Mode- Here is the final mode I will discuss here. In this mode, you can make your own music videos starring Miku and the others (up to three vocaloids). You can use the tracks in the game or your own mp3's you have saved to your PS3 (that, my friends, is awesome). As far as making the music videos go, it's pretty complex and in depth, so it'll take some time and dedication to get a good video made. I'm not going to explain everything you can do in it because there are a lot of options. The game does do a decent job with the tutorial for it though, and even with that, it'll take some tinkering with it to fully understand this mode.
FINAL VERDICT- I personally love this game. It quickly earned its place in my top 5 PS3 games. I never thought a rhythm game would hold that place, but Project Diva F has done it, and I'm assuming it will be there for quite some time. If you enjoy rhythm games, get it. If you enjoy Miku/vocaloids, get it. If you like it and want to see more games in this franchise brought overseas, tell your friends to get it. I'll be enjoying this game for the time being, and I'll be hoping for another release on the Vita and/or 3DS.
This game is now also a huge guilty pleasure of mine, I suspect the target audience for this game is young girls and women, but i suspect that most of the people buying and playing this game are 20 something male otaku, like myself, but its a great game so who wouldn't want to play it! This game isn't just a rhythm game either, once you have progressed further it present you with the opportunity to interact with the vocaloid persona's. Its very basic, things like playing rock, paper, scissors; giving them gifts and patting them on the head in the correct manner, as I said very basic but a nice change of pace from the rhythm game. there is also a lot of costumes, and accessories to unlock and "buy" the downside, I think, is that you have to unlock these things and "buy" them with in game currency in my opinion it should be one of the other not both. and if you are still reading at this point the one other complaint I have is out of the 38 songs featured, "The World is Mine" is not a playable one, what!? Oh well whatever.
So in conclusion, buy this, right now! Especially if you are a fan of music/rhythm based games, so much thought when in to this game and it has so many pros to offer as opposed to the cons (of which mine are purely based on personal preferences) It is a good Idea to buy this game!

Anyway, I digress; buy this now! I myself purchased the American/European version from a company in Canada (via Amazon), and it arrived in the UK in less than a week!
If i could have one complaint about the game, then it would be that it doesnt have the most mainstream of Vocaloid songs like World is Mine, Love is War and Popipo, but that's just nit-picking because every other game in the Project Diva series has those and they decided that they would go for a change with this one. There are only about 3 songs that i dont like much out of 38 which is more than enough to keep me entertained forever.
Hope this helps :D if you have any questions, email me at aaroncruse@hotmail.co.uk
i completely love the game and find it highly addictive.
a wonderful balance of simple sequences and challenging versions later in the game.
a fantastic range of songs and many a vocaloid fan will know
this is a must have game for vocaloid fans
only improvement could be to add more songs in the future
