The game is a lot of fun! Easy to learn; hard to master. There is a significant jump in gameplay difficulty between difficulty modes instead of a gradual increase. Don't get me wrong though; it's a good thing! It means the challenge just gets harder! You'll need some really fast thumbs for some of the songs in Extreme.
The price is a little higher than what I'm used to paying for a game, but once again: I'm not complaining. Japan typically has higher prices on media products, plus there is the import fee to cover shipping and what not. The seller has to make money somehow, so try not to be upset with the price. If the price was that big of a deal, I wouldn't have purchased it anyways. The deal that AkihabaraGames offers is much more attractive than the prices I have seen on other sites (such as JList who sells it for $100 before shipping). If you're looking to get this game, AkihabaraGames is your best bet! Sure, an English translated version is coming out on the PSN store soon, but perhaps you are like me and would prefer a physical copy (with the VR Card, might I add).
The fact that the game is in Japanese shouldn't be too much of a hindrance to anyone. I'm sure you could figure out what most of the menu buttons do just by experimenting. However, knowledge of the Japanese language, or at the very least, katakana, will help you out tremendously with navigating menus.
I half purchased this as a learning aid to supplement my studies of Japanese. What better way to passively study than with a music oriented game? The other half of the reason for purchasing is that I've always wanted to get my hands on a Project Diva game and I'm glad I finally did.
If you purchase this, look forwards to hours upon hours of fun. The replayability factor of the game is tremendous.
If you are serious about buying, then buy here. You won't regret it!
A both po and con is that the yellow star trigger is no longer the analog sticks. Nor does it have the option to be. To hit the Stars when they come up, you swipe the touch screen. In the options menu if you can read Katakana you'll see that they call it "Scratc" and you can change it from swiping the front touch pad to the back touch pad or both. I personally reccomend both because thats more capability and sometimes its easier in faster situations. You hardly need to swipe at all so its easy to pull off charts with lots of stars one after another. But! the con is that it would have been a lot easier with the analog sticks so they should have added that option but its not in there.
Anyway! Overall fantastic game! It has all the same songs and pictures, there are different modes though like the AR mode where you pull out this included paper card that is in the game case and it will make a AR Hatsune Miku appear wherever you set the paper down.
Don't fret though if you lose it cause you can simply search online and find the 3 or so pics you can print that activate the AR program.
Edit mode is still there. As well as the ability to add your own MP3 songs and make charts for them too.
I HIGHLY recommend this game to ANYONE who like Rhythm games. And if you've never played one, this and the PS3 version are a great place to start! :D
If you own a Vita and love music games i highly recommend getting this, you won't be disappointed.
I've gotten him most miku games and this was the last one I got him because he needed to have the very first psvita miku game.
