Haunted Halloween Party Board book – September 7, 2004
Top customer reviews
Mr. Bones, a skeleton, introduces the reader to his friends, who are helping to decorate the house for their Halloween party. In short rhymes sprinkled with a handful of puns, you meet Mummy, Bat and Witch, the ghosts, and Mr. Bones's band, The Boneheads.
The cover is an image of the haunted house, with cut-out windows that are covered over with clear plastic. Behind the plastic are cut-out shapes of Mr. Bones and his friends which move freely when the book is moved. This, all by itself, attracts the attention of children, even before the book is opened. While the characters are creepy, there's nothing very scary here, so young readers won't be freaked out by it (but it's always a good idea to read a book yourself before reading it your child and making your own decision!). The rhymes are cute, the puns are silly and Witch's menu for the night is an alliterative delight - Poison Ivy Punch, Slug Souffle, Toad Tongue Tarts and Candied Cockroach Crunch! The creepy residents are shown in funny and light-hearted ways and in brilliantly colorful illustrations with plenty of interesting details. Well worth adding to your Halloween stash!
It's a rhyming book with really fun verbage. It's not at all scary so, no need to worry about that. The illustrations are supurb. He really like the way the characters on the cover move!
This is just a really fun book for halloween and even anytime. The one we have is worn so, I am going to buy another one. This is a book to keep for all your children.
