One day a voluptuous brunette with blood red lips came to his office with a huge folder of historical papers and photographs. Let's just say she had a body, and she knew how to use it! Her name was Arianna Antwerp, and she wanted to have Middleton write a historical family history based on the notes and photographs that had been handed down to her by her Great-Great Grandfather, Matthias. It would go all the way back to the Civil War and end when he passed on. The family home or mansion was called Magnolia Manor, which he was to find out was named after her Grandmother. She rekindles an interest in him about history ( and other things) and after a couple of weeks, and a visit to the mansion, he agrees to write the book. She tells him the mansion is supposedly haunted by her great-great-grandfather, due to an old secret, and she wants him to help find out the secret, so her grandfather would be able to rest in peace. The plot is reminiscent of many Hercule Poirot (Agatha Christie) novels I have read, and I must say I really enjoyed this book as much as Agatha's, including all the plot twists, including murder and voodoo. I highly recommend this book, as I think you will thoroughly enjoy it! Try to minimize distractions, such as noise, kids, music,as you really need to stay focused when you are reading it--it will be well worth your while.
I am fast become one of Ms. Lorraine's fans. She has been writing short stories, and kiddie books for several years now, but has now decided it is time to publish them, and it's about time! She needs to stop hiding her talent from us! I even read one of her kiddie books about an alien being appearing to a child, and it was adorable--not scary at all, as most 'alien' books tend to be.
