From the Editor

Bestselling author Robert Masello has built his career on imagining prominent historical figures’ lives with a sprinkle of the supernatural—ghosts, demons, and otherworldly beings make an appearance in his books. He’s covered everyone from Albert Einstein to Bram Stoker, and now he’s turned his thrilling storyteller’s eye to literary icon H. G. Wells.

It’s the time of the Great War in England. Wells, already known for writing The War of the Worlds and The Invisible Man, is sent to the front to investigate a report that an apparition of the ancient Roman St. George led the British troops to victory in battle. But the plot Wells stumbles into could destroy the peaceful world the Allies are fighting to ensure.

Masello takes us on a wild ride through twentieth-century Europe as Wells goes up against foes both physical and paranormal, teaming up with his suffragette partner to save the world. This is history unlike anything you learned in high school.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“His blending of real and fictional events is utterly captivating. And casting the 49-year-old Wells as an action hero makes for great fun.” Booklist
