Although he is pretty sure there’s no way he can afford the place, the old lady who owns it makes him a deal he can’t refuse. And the next thing he knows, he and his wife are moving in.
The house begins to do strange things almost at once. It makes funny noises, and the foreman of the repair crew Rob has hired to make some much-needed repairs is mysteriously pushed over by nobody anyone can see, and it changes his whole personality. This is evidently a prequel to the real haunting series, so despite a few unexplainable things, nothing much really happens in this one except that Rob discovers that a family of four was murdered in the house thirty-five years ago. And he discovers what his own relationship to the house is.
It could have used better editing.
I liked that the house wasn't very old. We find out immediately that the house was built in 1970. Generally, we expect haunted house to be old Victorian mansions, and I liked this was different. The twist at the end was great too. I won't repeat all the editing errors, but it was a huge problem. Regardless, I'd like to get my hands on the next one in the series when it comes out.
