The main character is funny and adorable. Her love interest is the perfect book boyfriend!
But the thing that got me most is the surprise ending. The way the author tied up this impossible love story will not leave a dry eye in the house. You've been warned! But the tears are so worth it in the end!
I love this new author and I read everything she puts out as soon as I can!!
When Tinley Hall has a terrible accident that puts her into a coma, her spirit is forced to remain confined within the walls of her home while her body struggles to stay alive. When she meets Gus, a charming young ghost who died in the 1940's, things happen that she never could have expected: namely, she begins to fall for him, and then wonders if returning to the land of the living is the better of the two options she's given.
This was such a sweet story, a story of impossible love that you want to conquer the barriers of life and death. I won't give away the ending, but it left me smiling and eager to pick up more of the author's work. The story did lose a little steam after a turning point halfway through, but the ending more than redeemed that for me.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves YA romance with a touch of the paranormal. It's a quick read that will make you look at life and death a little bit differently after you turn the last page.
Hagan's latest novel, The Haunting of Tinley Hall is a sweet paranormal romance. The story is told from Tinley's perspective. And, through her thought processes we learn a great deal about the young woman she is becoming.
I am not a fan of paranormal or romances. But, because Hagan is such a talented author I agreed to review this book. It is well written and edited. The story is clean and crisp.
5 out of 5 stars.
I received this book for free from the author for review consideration. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.
But, I will say that it was a little predictable. I guessed the ending at about 20%. But even then I did enjoy the story. The only thing that bothered me is the timeline. Alternate universes are hard to do and get right (one cant exist without the other right?) but a lot of the things that happened didn't make sense: bookshelf, letter, etc appearing while she was still a ghost because the catalyst for those things hadn't happened yet.
Still, a good read 3.5 stars.
This is a beautiful book(look at the cover!) inside and out. If you are looking for a spooky read that is refreshing and original, look no further! Brilliantly done!
