CBS Paramount, THANK YOU for continuing the releases of Have Gun-Will Travel at a very fast pace.....this will complete season 5 and may I suggest you release season 6 in one set, as there are only 32 episodes... so the loyal fans can finally have all 6 seasons by spring! That is my wish for 2011...Paladin, you are the greatest!

UPDATE: Very satisfied with this release, pristine for 1962

I grew up with the OLD westerns, They all were great but "Have Gun Will Travel" was the best. Not only did Paladin know how to use his gun but only as a last resort. He would try to reason or talk his way out of a fight before resorting to gun play. As in all of the OLD westerns, The good won over evil, bullies were put in their place and the women was held in high regard!!
I believe that season 5 has some of the best story lines and acting of all the Have Gun Will Travel episodes (I have all 5 seasons)I also believe that Richard Boone was one of the best actors that Hollywood ever produced!!

Now when my grandson comes over for the weekends, We pop some popcorn and I pull out the Have Gun Will Travel DVDs, then we sit back and watch Paladin do his thing!

I often lament that the westerns of my childhood are gone. But when I do see one on TV, I realize there wasn't much there. "Have Gun" was different: a series with story lines for grown-ups -- not in terms of today's "adult" content, but in deft handling of a storyline that covered a lot of ground in 30 minutes. There's good meeting evil as in most westerns, but "Have Gun" often deals with the great ambiguities in between. Paladin is a hero (albeit a hired gun) who uses his wits first, and his gunfighting skill as a last resort. And there's nothing maudlin or syrupy about his heroism.
Quality: Most of the episodes are sharp and clear -- only a few aren't. Some of the earliest episodes have a raw quality of direction I equate with early western movies; I found those few fun to watch because of their novelty. But most were spot-on drama set in the post-Civil War west. I can't recommend this series highly enough!

Why, oh why is there not role models like Paladin today? No one could top his style, intelligence and demeanor. If only television and movies could instill a Paladin figure today then maybe they could help make the world a little bit better.

I love this show and have bought the entire series on DVD (6 seasons total). Richard Boone is a great actor and his laugh is infectious. This isn't the typical western which makes it a fun and entertaining show. I grew up watching Gunsmoke reruns with my dad but didn't discover HGWT till about 10 years ago when I caught a few episodes on the Westerns Channel. I was hooked and started buying the seasons on DVD. As far as the DVDs and content goes - The first 3 seasons were done really well. They include guest star bios and interesting facts for each episode. The last 3 seasons were released later and do not include this bonus information which is a shame. (though I am thankful they DID finally release them!) They also divided the last 3 seasons up into two volumes each in order to make more money. The video quality of the second 3 seasons also seems to be of lesser quality (maybe the first 3 seasons were digitally cleaned up and the last three were not?). In my humble opinion seasons 1-4 are rock solid with great episodes and story lines. Seasons 5 & 6 (in my opinion) the quality of story lines and acting seems to drop in a noticeable way. Still worth watching of course but just something that I noticed. Overall a great TV series with a great actor. Thankful they are available on DVD so I can watch them with my boys.

The obvious gouge of splitting the season into multiple "volumes" hurts my feelings, and I did have the option of just torrenting this, but I decided against letting corporate greed cause me to compromise my ideals, so I deducted a star because of the cost.

The series is well-made, often with thought-provoking story lines. Some of the details (such as clothing, hair styles, and makeup) are totally anachronistic, but they otherwise went the extra mile and provided enough location shots that you can suspend reality, sit back and enjoy some pretty good character acting (Not to mention great shoot-outs!).

I have been a fan of Richard Boone's Paladin all my life. Seeing these shows again reminds me of the quality shows we had in the late 50's early 60's. Have Gun Will Travel will always be one of the greatest shows of that time period. Can't wait for Season 6.

Have Gun Will Travel has weathered the years since it was first introduced. Good quality acting and stories. Anxiously awaiting the release of Season 6 and hope, like others, that they release the entire season at one time.
