As for myself, well, the DVD's actual contents are maybe thin for the price. It's billed as having 5 Full-Length Original Shorts, 5 Restored Versions, 3 Blams!, and 1 Re-MICKS. Of the 5 Full-Length Originals, I'd call 4 of them "original" and very funny. They are "Mickey and the Seal", "Lonesome Ghosts", "Winter Storage", and "Food for Feudin'". The 5th Original -- "How to Hook Up Your Home Theater" -- was probably only made a few years ago (it refers to DVDs and DVRs, large-screen TVs, surround-sound systems) -- and while it got a few chuckles, most of it went right over my son's head. Each Original Short is immediately followed by a shortened, 3-min version of the same story. Although it's irritating for me to see the same story twice in a row, it certainly doesn't seem to be an issue for my son. The Blams! are like sports-announcer voice-overs of some snippets of original cartoons. They left me wishing to see the originals, and didn't get any laughs from my son at all. The Re-MICKs showed a portion of an original Mickey cartoon with Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" playing over it -- again, not very entertaining. So, all-in-all, there are 4 great originals on this DVD padded with some ho-hum fluff.
- "BLAM!" This is just clips of the classic cartoons with cheesy 90's type narrations and an obnoxious high school dropout shouting the word "BLAM!!!" every time Donald Duck is hit on the head with something or another. Search "Disney Blam" on YouTube to experience this travesty for yourself.
- "Re-Micks" These are Mickey Mouse shorts mixed up to modern music. (Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers). Great toons, terrible songs.
- "Short Versions" These are just the shorts cut down and re dubbed to about three minutes long instead of 8. The interesting thing about these is that we get to hear Brett Iwane as Mickey, as Wayne Allwine passed away last year.
In conclusion DO NOT BUY. Go for the Walt Disney Treasures sets instead. These have the cartoons uncut and with a great deal of extras.
