Magnified by her very personal journey continuing to unfold Lorri honors both her compassionate loving husband while highlighting the true open-hearted generosity of the Mother she gave her precious daughter to at the beginning of her life.
This beautiful story with a beautiful ending could only have occured with 4 loving adult souls ...Lorri, her husband
Steve, and the adoptive parents Anne and Temple (let's not forget the generous adoptive father, himself an adopted child).
However, most important to this unbelievable tale of LOVE is really the true heroine....the inquisitive, smart and forgiving young adopted woman Katie (Aimee). Credit is certainly due to the adoptive Mom, Anne, for teaching Katie by example unconditonal love and true compassion.
I read this book in one sitting and would highly recommend it to anyone and most certainly should be on any adoptive parent's reading list.
Bravo to this brave gifted writer!
In a world preoccupied with killing unborn babies, this book reminds us of the joy all new life can bring if we only choose to give it a chance. When you think of unwanted pregnancy and the relatively short few months of "inconvenience" it represents in a woman's life, well-crafted adoption -- especially open adoption -- represents a sometimes forgotten choice that we need to encourage and consider more often as a society. Kudos to Ms. Benson for her brave portrayal of how this "loving a child enough to let go" plays out over a lifetime, and how modern, open adoption can be wonderful and stigma-free for both birth and adoptive parents.
