Reading through the stories of kindness included in the compilation will leave you smiling knowing that just a simple act on your part can have a profound effect on other's lives as well as your own. The book is a quick read but can be picked up from time to time to remind you to spread random acts of kindness when you're able.
I like the overall message of how small things add up, kindness being one of those. People think they don't have time, wealth, or opportunity to express kindness. Several of the stories illustrate that it doesn't take much time and often does not take money to lend attention or gratitude to another person.
After each story contributed by different authors, Dana Morgan Barnes concisely sums up the basic points of each of the stories shared. The stories are detailed enough to form the word picture and to keep the reader reading along to their conclusion.
With the variety of authors, you are certain to find some stories that resonate with you. My favorite chapters are the ones about the bus driver and about the hotel/casino worker. As one who rode a bus to school for a number of years, I could relate to the first. The second takes place in a casino conference center in Las Vegas. Living here in Vegas, I see that casino all the time. I have been there many times. But because of this story, I will never look at the facilities or the people the same way again.
This book is ideal as a daily, weekly, or monthly motivator on the importance of kindness. Read a chapter at a time as part of your regular routine. And see the change that it can make in your life.
