It is a must-have addition to every crocheter's library. It expands the vocabulary of dimensional
crochet with clarity and invention. A delight and a treasure trove!! I create and design
crochet jewelry and I love flowers. This book is a feast for the eyes and joy for the hands.
I am so grateful that the author did the hard work of recording her fabulous patterns
and sharing her insights. Thank you, Roberta Wong!
Skill-wise, the patterns are mostly simple enough for a relative crochet novice (such as myself) to pick up easily. There are some moderately more advanced stitches in some recipes, but the book comes with a short refresher on basic crochet stitches and terminology at the beginning, and most of the recipes look pretty simple (to be fair, I've only had the book a few days and only started on a single lei so far). The recipes all work on the principle of crocheting a long 'stem' (usually in green), followed by attaching the flowers or petals.
To summarize, if you're looking for good instructions on making your own lei using crochet, this book has them.
My thanks to Roberta Wong for a wonderful book!
