Hawkeye and Mockingbird combine the best of Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. - super-heroes, super-villains, super-espionage, and super-great reading. Formerly happily married, Clint Barton & Bobbi Morse are now sometimes-uneasy partners, and this trade paperback reprints the mini-series that pits them against foes from their West Coast Avengers days.. If only all comics purchases were this fine! The condition of the book was described as "Used - Like New." That allows for a minimum grade of VF+ (8.5), and it was actually VF/NM (9.0) (my opinion as a comics appraiser). Most vendors overestimate the condition of their books, and when I find a conservative call like this, it makes me think the sellers have a real handle on making buyers happy. So I got a better book than I was expecting, and it was also discounted over 65% - a $15.15 value for ONLY $5.09. WOW! I will certainly be watching for more Plum Circle values in the future.

Not a bad start but lacks the charm of the original Hawkeye & Mockingbird pairing

Hawkeye & Mockingbird: Ghosts collects issues #1-6 of Hawkeye & Mockingbird, originally published in 2010, as well as a short piece from Enter the Heroic Age. Continuity-wise, the story follows events that took place in
New Avengers: The Reunion TPB
, though the events of that book are summarized within this one. For its price, Ghosts is a solidly produced trade paperback loaded with extras. In addition to a sketchbook, it contains variant covers, an introduction by Jim McCann, and a short "Saga of Hawkeye & Mockingbird" piece, which recounts the pair's history.
As for the story itself, McCann has re-tooled Mockingbird from the lone agent of her earlier days to the head of a small NCIS-like group called the World Counterterrorism Agency. Hawkeye, though troubled by the Agency's methods, tags along as a quasi-member of the group in order to be with the woman he loves. Their love is tested, however, when the machinations of Crossfire and the Phantom Rider unearth old emotional wounds in our heroes. McCann's plot is a competent if convoluted espionage story, which--though not as tight as it could have been--holds a good deal of potential for future graphic novels in this series. Fans of the original Hawkeye mini-series (collected in Avengers: Hawkeye (Marvel Premiere Classic) ), however, may find Ghosts to be overly dramatic and a bit too serious. The lightheartedness and mundanity of Gruenwald's original Hawkeye & Mockingbird team-up is completely missing from Ghosts. Art-wise, David Lopez's pencils are decent, but generally unremarkable--and they are not helped by Nathan Fairbairn's overly monochromatic coloring.
If you're a Hawkeye fan or liked New Avengers: The Reunion TPB , you'll likely enjoy this graphic novel. Fans of older Hawkeye & Mockingbird pairings, however, may find this book a little disappointing. Casual readers, in fact, would probably be better off picking up either Avengers: Hawkeye (Marvel Premiere Classic) or West Coast Avengers: Assemble (Marvel Premiere Classic) than this book, which presumes some knowledge of the pair's earlier relationship.

I loved this story. It ties all the back into early West Coast Avengers comics where the WCA went back into the old west. Mockingbird was assaulted and let her attacker die. His ghost comes back in this story to make her pay while Hawkeye's old enemy Crossfire returns.

This series is excellent for anyone who likes Bobbi and Clint, particularly working together but also dating. It's a great read if you enjoy these two and the way they can play off each other.

Have been reading and enjoying comic books for 40 years. This may be one of the worst series I have ever read. Bad script & art. Wish I had done something better with the hour of my life spent reading this crap.

While this is an alright little collection, with both writing and artwork I would consider nicely done but at the same time neither pushes to stand out. If the writer had spent a little more time developing the emotional impact of the circumstances the characters find themselves in, this collection might have thrilled me more and it also may have thrilled other readiers enough for this to have been a talked about collection, which it wasn't.

Out of all the Heroic Age creations, Hawkeye and Mockingbird are my favorites, well second to the Children's Crusade. The writing is sharp and the characters have evolved. NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE HAWKEYE AND MOCKINGBIRD OF BEFORE. Hawkeye has died and returned and Mockingbird has been kidnapped and raped, you can't expect characters to stay the same when stuff like that happens. I sure hope the series hasn't been cancelled as it has been an extremely fun ride with these two amazing characters. The plot was solid and tied in for those who have stuck with the pair. The art is gorgeous and alone enough to get it.
Don't listen to the group that is afraid of change or missing the old times. miss the old times? go read the old series. Ready for a new beginning? Pick up Ghosts and enjoy the hell of a ride. Its original, fun, and refreshing and the perfect series to follow without really worrying about the things going on in other series. At least it isn't another Deadpool series, I mean, seriously? That guy has got like 5 ongoing series. Please be more diverse with your heroes Marvel.

This graphic novel is basically the further adventures of Hawkeye and Mockingbird.
Whilst set in the current marvel universe, this could easily be set at almost anytime from West Coast Avengers onwards.
A reasonable story with some good art, but unless you know the characters well probably not the best jumping on point for them.
However nice to see a classic pairing back in their original uniform and not an alien respectively.
