Food-Grade Superior Stainless SteelThe Hawkins Stainless Steel pressure cooker body and lid are made from food-grade, 18/8, non-magnetic, superior stainless steel (AISI Grade 304). The '18/8' symbolises that this stainless steel grade contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, for greater anti-corrosion resistance, and to better withstand the various acids found in many foods such as fruits, meats, milk, and vegetables. It is hence one of the best quality stainless steel grades used for making cooking utensils. Type 304 stainless steel has great strength, which means that, properly used, your Hawkins Stainless Steel pressure cooker will give you many years of faithful service. |
Food-grade Superior Stainless Steel lidThe 18/8 superior stainless steel lid ensures the highest levels of hygiene and durability. |
5.8 mm Extra-thick, Heat-diffusing Sandwich BottomThe pressure cooker Body and Lid are made of food-grade, superior stainless steel for maximum hygiene and durability. On the outside bottom of the pressure cooker, sandwiched between two sheets of stainless steel, is a core of 4.1 mm thick aluminium, which spreads heat quickly and evenly. This means no hotspots – food will not burn or stick. The external base is made of AISI Grade 430 magnetic stainless steel, which means that your Hawkins Stainless Steel pressure cooker will work on both gas & induction cooktops. The extra-thick base stays flat and never bulges. It can be used safely for light and deep frying before pressure cooking. |

The Hawkins Pressure-Locked Safety lidThe unique Hawkins Pressure-Locked Safety lid ensures that when there is pressure inside the cooker, the lid is pressure-locked like a modern jetliner door. It cannot be opened until the pressure has fallen to a safe level. |
Perfect Sealing through better design – 'Play'The lid handle bar is so attached to the lid that there is extra space for deliberate 'play' or movement. This ensures perfect sealing of the lid with the rim of the cooker body. This is an advanced design feature – do not try to tighten the bar and remove this 'play'! |
Fixed sturdy PivotThe fixed sturdy pivot assists the self-centralising lid in locking securely and safely in place, ensuring a steam-tight seal. It is also designed so that no undue pressure is put on the plastic handles, as it is part of the metal handle itself. Thus the handles last longer. |

Superior pressure regulationThe New Improved pressure regulation system regulates pressure better, cooks faster, saves more fuel, is easier to insert and remove and reduces sprouting of frothy foods (such as dal). |
Automatic Safety ValveThe automatic Safety Valve is positioned such that, if it operates, the steam and food are deflected safely downwards. |
Longer lasting GasketAs the lid fits from inside, the gasket does not get rubbed sideways, or cut or scraped every time the pressure cooker is opened or closed. Further, exposure of the gasket to food acids in the pressure cooker is minimised due to the protection given to it by the rim of the lid. |

Sturdy, stay-cool HandlesYour pressure cooker comes with stay-cool handles which are easy and comfortable to hold while cooking. The handles are designed to provide optimal comfort and protection from excessive heat when the cooker is in use. The metal screw and rivets used to fasten the handles are safely recessed to limit the chances of your hand coming into contact with hot metal during cooking. |
Unique Curved BodyThe cooker body is given the right curvature, which has three benefits: food is easy to stir during the cooking that is done prior to pressure cooking; this helps prevent the food from sticking or burning which can otherwise be a problem in stainless steel, and clean-up is so easy! |
Works on Gas + Induction cooktopsThe AISI Grade 430 magnetic external base of the pressure cooker means that it can be used on induction cooktops. In addition, it is recommended for use on gas, electric, ceramic and halogen cooktops as well. The 5.8 mm extra-thick base always stays flat and maintains proper contact even after heavy-duty use. |

The cooker comes with lots of instructions. It is important to follow them, pressure cookers are dangerous. I like the safety features that this one provides. I feel as though the cooker could not actually explode as some kinds can do if they run dry (they could at least, when I was a kid). There is a safety on this one that will have to be replaced if you ever get the cooker over pressure. So, it would be a big hassle if you ever did force it into action, but at least it will be safe. so, I think it is better just to read the instructions and treat this item with the respect that a pressure cooker deserves. When i was a kid we always used one, it was a big heavy aluminum item that I am sure most people my age will recall. I never though about using a pressure cooker after learning about the dangers of aluminum in your body. I didn't know anyone was making stainless steel cookers. That is one of the reasons I bought this particular model -- it is all stainless steel - so you will know that your food is not contaminated by aluminum. The only draw back of this particular model is the fact that you can not plunge it into cold water when cooking is over to bring down the pressure. This is because the base is made from 3 layers of different metal ( a thick heavy base of aluminum is sandwiched between the innermost and outermost layer of stainless steel) . Plunging the pot into cold water to hasten the pressure drop would put too much stress on the dis-similar metals and would result in damage to the base. Also, I am afraid that it would be unwise to apply too, too much heat to the cooker when bringing it up to pressure, lest this also should lead to stress on the cooker's base. So, I heat the cooker at slightly below full flame on my gas stove. It heats up very quickly anyways. so that isn't a problem. When cooking is done I let the pot sit for a few minutes, off of the cooking ring, and if I am in a hurry I let some steam out by lifting the weight with a fork. Mostly, it is not an issue. When cooking is done, usually not everything is finished in the kitchen. so, I really don't mind that you can't hurry the cooling off as much as you might if you could use cold water.
It takes a little while to become familiar with the way the cooker responds to your own particular stove, so you have to pay good attention to it when first using it. And, since it is a pressure cooker, and therefor inherently dangerous, you can never leave it alone anyways (you really should not) lest it run dry - that is when things get very dangerous - but maybe not in this case with the meltable safety valve. I'm not clear on this point. But, like I said before, if you put this pressure cooker under the type of conditions that will cause the safety valve to melt, you will have to replace that part, and it will be a hassle, so that is one reason, at least to keep a good eye on your pressure cooker when it is being used.
I would recommend this pressure cooker to anyone. I really like it, and have enjoyed using it immensely. Unfortunately this pot does not come with inner containers as the next size up does (8 liters?) I have the 6 liter model. However, I happen to have a small stainless pot that fits inside just right, so when I cook up a smaller amount of rice or oatmeal I put the grain in the small pot with the required water to cook it properly, place this small pot on the steaming rack that comes with the pressure cooker and then add the necessary water to provide the pressure cooker's steam to the bottom of the pot. This works perfectly and makes fabulous grains and beans and porridge. If you were cooking for more than one or two people I think I would recommend getting a larger size pot than the 6 liter size. Over all I am extremely pleased with this pressure cooker.
UPDATE MARCH 14
I order with cooker extra sefty valve & ring, when 1st time use sefty valve broken, I change, put new sefty valve, trying aging cook & second time also something Brock sefty valve again, I want my money back, I don't know How..??
I'm never going to buy this company cooker again
So after talking with some other pressure cooker users, the sensitivity to vibration is expected for weighted valve types. My other points still hold, though.
-o-o-o-
This pressure cooker is extremely sensitive to vibrations. For that, I mean the valve releases a puff each step I take in the adjacent room, and if I walk a little bit too hard... all pressure gone in a huge release which always sprays liquid in four directions. The problem is that the valve won't close at all until all pressure gone or until I slap it down with a spatula: with an old house and a roommate, plus a shaking washing machine, this cooker cannot hold pressure with all the vibration happening around.
The safety feature of a lid that goes inside is great, technically. However, this has caused many cleaning problems. Mainly, the lever creates small crevices that are very hard to clean up. To make this worse, the curved-in lip required for the safety lid to work makes the body also difficult to wash, as brushes don't work very well when you have to jam the handle around the internals, and when you can't see that corner. In addition, you have to be very careful not to drop your lid inside the food when opening or closing. This is less sanitary than I would like.
Finally, there is nothing in the description saying so --- but the instruction manual explicitly prohibits heating the pan when dry, for reasons about how it can damage the bottom (which has an extra plate, probably for induction). That means using the pan to saute and brown before cooking is out of the question. And speaking of the instruction manual, it is formatted into an appendix at front which is supposed to override specific instructions in the main text. This is extremely confusing, especially regarding important safety messages: no dry heating, no bathing in cold water, etc.
If you buy this, you are left with a pressure cooker that cannot do cold bath and cannot brown meats and vegetables, that is hard to clean, and that loses pressure if you walk around. And I seriously doubt its construction as I have seen liquid seeping out from the edge of safety valve. Fortunately that happened only once.
Buy this cooker only if you: (1) have a dedicated pan for browning, (2) walk like a cat, (3) don't require quick release, (4) have no problem cleaning tiny spaces. For $60, it is probably not worth it.

were awesome so no issues with the cooking results from making biryani to hot gravies). Its very heavy with full load so be careful using it on induction though im not going to try it on my induction at all. Otherwise i guess the best one.
Tip: i bought 5ltr size just pay extra 150 and get the 6ltr one but i didn't return mine as i dont need any bigger than this for my use.
