Locked Safety Lid The unique Hawkins Pressure-Locked Safety lid ensures that when there is pressure inside the cooker, the lid is pressure-locked like a modern jetliner door. It cannot be opened until the pressure has fallen to a safe level.	Fixed Sturdy Pivot The fixed sturdy pivot assist the self-centralising lid in locking securely and safely in place, ensuring a steam-tight seal. It is also designed so that no undue pressure is put on the plastic handles, as it is part of the metal handle itself. Thus the handles last longer.	Superior Pressure Regulation The New Improved pressure regulation system regulates pressure better, cooks faster, saves more fuel, is easier to insert and remove and reduces sprouting of frothy foods (such as dal).


Automatic Safety Valve The automatic safety valve is positioned such that, if it operates, the steam and food are deflected safely downwards. I can't say enough good things about this product. I bought 6.5 liters, so I can cook in bulk and have it served for a few days.
1. The quality of the pressurized cook is excellent - mutton meat gets tenderized after about 6-7 whistles.
2. While cooking dal under pressure, it doesn't spurt out from the top, giving out clean whistles, unlike the prestige apple cooker that I own.
3. As the material of the cooker is made of hard anodized aluminium, I can easily saute and fry onions, tomatoes in it, for creating the initial curry paste, instead of using a separate frying saucepan.
4. Due to its design, the Hawkins cook at much higher pressures than the prestige series of cookers, and thus the food gets cooked/boiled/tenderized much more quickly and easily, saving you time and gas.
Will update on the longevity of this product in the future.

There have been some reviewers who have complained because this pressure cooker is different from all of the others on the market in the way it opens and closes. While I agree that that does take some getting used to, it doesn't require a brain surgeon's intellect. I think it's ingenious. The pressure inside helps to create a pressure seal, and the construction is superb. If I were hypercritical, and I often am, I'd complain that the safety valve under the handle makes cleaning the lid a little more onerous, but it's also a safety factor since were the valve to fail, the handle would act as a shield, and the shape of the pot, with the curved top, makes cleaning it a little more difficult, but once again I must say that these are really trivial complaints. I own a large Fissler pressure cooker which Consumers Reports recommends as the best they've tested, and it is excellent, but I wanted a small one for small quantities of stuff, like stone ground oats for my morning breakfast, which take forever to cook even after soaking overnight. I can easily cook them in 20 minutes using this cooker. It really is, in my opinion, a well made and excellent choice.

BUYER BEWARE!! When I saw the bad reviews re: the noise coming from the pressure cooker I assumed it was coming from people who were inexperienced with pressure cookers. I have used and been around pressure cookers all my life. They make a whistling noise, it's normal. The noises coming from this pressure cooker were NOT normal!!!! I have never in my life heard anything so loud and scary. Read the reviews and take note...THIS IS NOT THE ONE FOR YOU!!!
I tried to return but realized that the date to return had already passed. From all the negative reviews this can't be a coincidence or defective one. This pressure cooker just sucks. DO NOT BUY!!!!

This little pressure cooker is great for perfect rice and does fine with steel cut oats, those little potatoes, and small batches of dried beans even - if you compare to the price of one of those rice cookers, it's a steal, and frankly, those electronically controlled ones are overly complicated and expensive - and are huge pain to store too. As others have rightfully mentioned, you do have to pay attention to keeping the seal clean, and that you latch the lid with the seal seats evenly all around the top or there's a slight leak preventing it from coming up to pressure. It's amazing how fast, easy, and great rice comes out too...

This is the my favorite brand of pressure cookers. I prefer the Hawkins close-from-inside design over the close-over-top of other models. If you have never used it watch a video to understand the difference. It makes for a safer and more durable pressure cooker and an easier to clean lid and sleeker profile.
The anodized coating makes it doubly good. It's superior to stainless steel and plain aluminum both and id your cooking involves more than boiling, if it involves sauteing, or stir frying then this is the best way to go.
Pressure cooking is not plug and play. You have to familiarize yourself with cooking times and what pressure and steam does to your food. Trying a few basic recipes from the enclosed cookbook can get you started. Once you get the hang of it, cooking is fast and easy and healthier and tastier.
This particular shape (yes it matters) is best suited to making stews and curries and chilli. Any dish that is rich in flavor and mostly liquid.
There are electric pressure cookers on the market now but cooking on gas flame is still the best :)

The cooker looked exactly like its in the picture. Cooking any kind of complex meal is much easy . The only problem i can think off is when ur using it, make sure the cooker is locked properly. Sometimes if the lid is not closed properly it can result in steam not comming out and the food getting burnt. Another word of caution , please hand wash the pressure cooker , putting it in washer can result in damaging the external look .

I bought the 6.5 et 3.5 pressure cookers. Since both have the same size of lid you can exchange them, and do not have to pay attention for doing anything wrong. I absolutely love these pressure cookers and use them nearly daily on my gas stove. Read the manual and practice a bit, and you will never be scared again of blowing up your kitchen. Cleaning up afterwards is easy too.

I liked Hawkins pressure cooker. Its non-sticky is good but I don't like the way it whistles. It whistle so quickly and so often that its irritating meanwhile its hard to know when does food really get cooker. Usually my cooker each whistle say something, like rice is cooker in single or double whistle, split lentils are ready in 1 whistle, mutton in 4/5 whistles. I can't guess say anything for this cooker.

First of all the lid doesn't fit the cooker easily. It takes a lot of effort to rightly place it. Then another mystery unveiled, it starts oozing out water at every whistle. Such pathetic quality. The only wrong thing I did is to use it post-replacecment days.

Given an overall 1 star review as we received a Faulty Pressure Cooker.
Whenever we tried to use it, the cooker never whistled and the Pressure Weight used to dance around releasing steam.
Tried 3 times with different food items and 1 time with just water to check if we were doing something wrong - but confirmed now that the product faulty!
