Compared to the first three books in this series, this book falls short. In order to make this book able to stand alone (for readers who haven't read at least 1 of the first 3 books in this series), the author spends a lot of time explaining characters and events from the first 3 books. So much happened in those books, that it takes up a lot of space! I feel that the story line of this book suffers because of that. However, having read the first three books, I am definately glad that I read this one. Loose ends are tied up and the siblings are reunited. There is also a final twist revealed (but I think everyone already guessed this while reading the other books.) So, if you have read at least 1 of the first three books in this series and are curious about the fate of the siblings and Simon Gault, I recommend this book. If, however, you have not read at least one of the prior three books in this series, I don't recommend this book. The first three are much better written.

I found this book to be easy-reading as well as intriguing. I wanted to just read the whole book without taking a break!

The entire plot of the orphaned family was so interesting, yet very life-like. I could almost feel myself in the story.

This book was awful. I almost can't believe it's written by Elaine Barbieri. For literally the whole first half of the book, Drew thought Tricia was an actual working whore. Besides that, the book was just boring. There was no feeling or emotion, it was just sentences telling an event, not a story. I had no idea how any of the characters felt or what they were thinking.

I enjoyed this book but bought it unaware that it was the final book of a series. Not having the history of the four siblings that were left at an orphanage, I didn't get a close connection to the characters. I must admit that the author did a great job of filling in the relationships of the various characters but that must have made it boring to those readers that had read the entire series. I did like the twist at the end about the Bordello Madam and I won't give that secret away for new readers. I never totally understood the Simon character and why all the political drama over Houston and Galveston. I have enjoyed many of the Elaine Barbieri books and will read more of them. It is too late for me to go back and read the first four of this series.

This is the last book in a four book series. They are all great stories and I have kept them so I can re-read them on the future. This book is about the second oldest of four children. They were separated ten years before. Each book is the story of one of them as they re-find each other as adults.

Book 1 Hawks Pledge 1849 (Written 2006) Constance O'Banion, Book 2 Hawks Passion 1858 written 10/1/13 Elaine Barbieri, Book 3 Hawk's Pursuit 1858 (Written 10/1/13) Constance O'Banion, Book 4 Hawk's Prize 1866 (Written 2011) Elaine Barbieri. If read out of order it gives away information to early. Even though Hawk's Prize was written in 2011 it is the conclusion of the book and it will be ruined If read prior to the other books. Character Book 1 Whit, Book 2 Elizabeth Huntington, Book 3 Jena Leigh Book 4 Drew. Wonderful books if read in order. Problem 4 books 2 authors and jumble of time line. I listed the year it takes place and the year written.

I very much enjoyed this book that concluded the Hawk Crest Saga. The book had a great plot twist at the end. However, I only give the book 4 stars because I was disappointed with the ending because there were a couple loose ends that was not addressed that made the ending seem blunt and rushed. IMO, the book should've had an epilogue to smoothly conclude the ending to the series, which would've been more gratifying. Even so, I enjoyed all four books in the series. Book 1: Hawk's Pledge; Book 2: Hawk's Passion; Book 3: Hawk's Pursuit; Book 4: Hawk's Prize.

It came in on my Kindle... I opened it, began reading it. It was two in the morning when I finished it. Ms. Barbieri has that magic touch to keep a reader (me) into the book until the end. It is one I will keep on my Kindle to read again and again. With all of the twists and turns in a first class whore House and then the ending....WOW! Read it you will enjoy it.
