These gloves are very firm on arrival. They need to be punched against the heavy bags for awhile to soften them up. Otherwise, they give your opponent a firm blow while sparring and just trying to tap them. The dual closure is great for wrist support. However, like others mention, the space inside is a bit tight to begin with. When inserting your hands into the gloves, the velcro of the inner dual strap likes to stick to your hand wraps, making it difficult to slide your hands into the gloves without getting hung-up. When I have gotten my hands in the gloves with wraps on, there was so little room that my hands started to cramp. I prefer to wear these gloves without any wraps. These gloves seem to be a little more compact than other 16 oz gloves and more dense. I only give 4 stars because of the issue with the velcro sticking to the hand wraps when trying to insert hands and due to tight space inside.

Outstanding glove with the hand position and support of a much more expensive glove
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2020Verified Purchase
Outstanding gloves. They are so supportive in the wrist, that without wraps, they are better than most gloves WITH wraps. Hand/thumb position in perfect And allows you to really dig in your punches. Great padding and hand support as well. I read a lot of complaints that they are impossible to get on. I have not had this experience at all. The far superior strap system makes it different to put on, but I wouldn’t say much harder at all. My advice to
donning the gloves is, loosen up the inner Velcro strap just before the point where the coarse portion is able to be felt inside the glove. This way it can’t snag on your wraps when inserting your hand. The strap will stretch allowing you to slip your hand in easily. Once your hand is in, tighten down.
I will say tho, much like others have said, they do run small...smaller than other hayabusa gloves of comparable weight. I’m 5’8”, 158lbs and have smaller hands and with wraps, they are snug on me. FOR SMALLER HANDS I GIVE THEM 10/10. If you have LARGE HANDS, STAY AWAY.

The second velcro strap sticks to your handwraps like crazy! My hands are a bit bigger so the fit is tight but it's pretty much impossible to put on without help. This is particularly frustrating at the gym when you need to quickly switch from gloves to pads for partner work.
The build quality is very good and everything else is in line with what others have complemented these gloves on. However, the strap design is a deal-breaker and disappointing since I had high expectations.

Great gloves but way too small! Like many other reviews have mentioned, these things are a really tight fit and I was barely able to get my hand in them (16 oz). I’m on the smaller side and I’m probably a medium in glove sizing, but these were very snug. Definitely can’t use any wraps with these gloves, and even without them it probably took me about 2 minutes of constant wiggling to get them on. Not ideal for my boxing classes where i put gloves on and off frequently.
Went with a pair of Fairtex gloves instead. Not quite as nice quality wise but are a breeze to get on and have plenty of room for wraps.
I really wish i could have kept the Hayabusa’s but they simply did not work out for me and were returned. Wish they would rework the inner padding.

I’ve been training western boxing and muy thai for years. The gloves are pretty stiff upon arrival. I imagine after a few hard sessions they’ll be fine. I bought the 14oz glove. They are a little snug but I do have some room in the fingers. The velcro wrist straps can be a little confusing and adjusting. The double Velcro does provide extra support. I can definitely tell the difference when throwing power strikes. My wrist feels a lot more stable compared to other gloves. I saw some other reviews about the wrist straps taking them in and off. Yes, it can be a pain taking them off even for a quick water break. You definitely want to give your self time to adjust if you’re working with a partner. After while I’m sure I’ll adjust to the wrist straps. I didn’t use any hand wraps with these gloves. As mentioned before they are snug and the wrist provides a lot of additional support. Their is plenty of cushion in the glove. I use a 70lb heavy bag and had no soreness or bruises on my knuckles. Hayabusa is definitely a top brand and you get what you pay for. At least with mma- boxing gear. I would recommend purchasing if you’re a beginner or advanced.

I have now had them for a month and sure enough they are much more comfortable.
I like them for the double strap and wrist and thumb support. I am a hairstylist and with the constant wrist and thumb movement I am very aware of the effects of carpal tunnel.
I am very please with the support I get with these Hayabusas. I would have given it a 5 star but due to the stiffness for the first 2 1/2 weeks, other than that they are a 5 star.

I bought the 14oz Hayabusa's, when I first got them they were very stiff and rubbed my wrist due to the stiffness. I had read other reviews and they said the same thing. I continued to wear them because I was assured they would loosen up.

I bought these for my 11-year-old boy in 12 IOZ size. These are great gloves, good for bag work as well as sparring. He loves them. The only thing, I should have bought them in 10 OZ for a better fit for a boy of his size (he is average height, skinny and muscular 75 Lbs kid). I am also planning to buy those in 16 oz for myself.

I really wanted to like these gloves, but they're just too difficult to put on. Velcro exposed on the inside meant my wraps kept getting caught, and the I couldn't get my hand through otherwise. The inside is tight enough that it kept pulling on my wraps as well. Once you've got them on, they're great - more than adequate wrist support and great padding.

Buena alternativa .a Cleto Reyes
Reviewed in Mexico on October 20, 2017Verified Purchase

Great gloves for training
Reviewed in Canada on May 7, 2017Verified Purchase
Awesome gloves. Fast shipping. The wrist support on these is GREAT. I never have wrist pain after bag work now. The velcro is going to catch your wraps a bit (especially if you use the longer 180s like I do)... but that really doesn't matter in my opinion, and it does get a little better with use. If you find your hand craps a bit because of the space then I would recommend adjusting the manner by which you wrap your hands (i.e., don't wrap as tight in certain areas/the palm). I find these gloves to be surprisingly breathable, as well. Would definitely recommend for bag work and sparring. The 16oz feel more compact than my previous gloves, too... which I prefer because I feel like I can just see more now.
