For those of you who, like myself, have been doing the DIY car repair thing for a while, you probably already know these manuals as they are pretty widely available at many parts stores. In my opinion, these manuals are pretty middle of the road...they're better than Chilton's, but not as good as the old big blue Mitchel's manuals of yore. For average car repair tasks like doing a tune up, changing your oil, replacing light bulbs, etc., the books are pretty decent, but personally I wish they were a bit more detailed...with less redundant information. This is just a personal opinion and I'm sure someone at Haynes has their reasons for it, but honestly...does each and every section HAVE to start with "disconnect negative battery cable..." or "jack/support vehicle" or "place vehicle in park...", etc.? You'd think that after the first 17 times this is mentioned in Chapter 1, that people would get the idea.....
Over all this manual is certainly better than nothing and can be helpful to many people of average car repair skill, however more detail, particularly regarding emissions systems, direct ignition systems, electrical systems, fuel injection systems, error codes, etc., would be of much greater use than the 593 repetitions of having to disconnect the battery cable.
