About the Author

Martha Hall Quigley is a native of Hazard and serves as the director of the Bobby Davis Museum and Park. She is the author of several other books and articles on Perry County history, including 1911-1913: Years of Change. She brings to this new work a love for her home community and the belief that a strong identity with the past provides a vigorous foundation for the future.

I was born in Hazard, lived there until I was about 6 years old and then visited a lot as I was growing up. This is my family's roots. I liked this book so much that I bought a second copy for my mother. She has us (her children) on a $10.00 gift limit because she doesn't like us spending our money on her. She stopped fussing about that after she started reading the book. Amazing, clear pictures with detailed explanations. Someone that loves Hazard put this book together. I also purchased two copies of Railroading Around Hazard and Perry County. This is a must have companion read. Railroading Around Hazard and Perry County (KY) (Images of Rail)
