What can I say that the other reviewers have not already said. The story is told from Zach's POV and he just pulls you in. The emotions are real and although yes, there is this whole love at first sight thing the development of the characters and the story just captures you immediately. Zach's character is at times sad, brave and witty and you get a real sense of who he is and what has brought him to this point. Even better - this is a real length novel. Too often these books can be over before they start but not so with this one. It was are really nice satisfying long read. Just buy it! you will not regret it!

I have to admit, when I read the first chapter or two of this book, I was a bit annoyed because I prefer fiction where the characters are deep and detailed, and the conflicts and events in the book are realistic and dealt with in a real way by the characters. What annoyed me was that the two main characters fall in love at first sight. I guess it happens in real life, but I've never known anyone it's happened to, and it just has the air of something that happens only in fairy tales and chick flicks.

I've read a few too many of those stories where the characters--who are always flawlessly good, beautiful, smart, and successful--meet, fall in love and settle into a life of domestic bliss in like two days; and all the conflict comes from an evil stalker/serial killer/ex-lover who's mad 'cause he thought love at first sight only happened in kids' books too. When I first started reading this genre, I read a lot of them, because there're a lot of them out there, and some of them have a strong enough hook to get me interested. The problem is, the characters usually aren't strong enough to save the plot from that not-gonna-happen thing, and the whole mess gets blown away in the first stiff breeze like the bits of fluff it is. I've gotten so tired of this type of book that I've become really, really picky about what I read lately. I have a couple of sites that I go to for reviews of books I'm interested in, and if there's the slightest inkling of anything like that, I usually just pass it on by.

That's why I was annoyed when, early in chapter 2 (2% of the way into the book, according to my kindle), our hero meets the other hero and that love at first sight thing happens.

Zach is a boy with issues: the book opens with him coming home defiantly to attend his mother's funeral, in full 'gay regalia'. But Zach doesn't always see things clearly, and he doesn't understand his brother at all (though they never really have the conversations you think they should have, and certainly never talk about their mother, which I consider a real weakness in the book, particularly because of how it starts)

When Zach meets his brother's friend Aaron, my least favorite thing happens - insta love. But, it's so intense, and the author just commits completely, that I let myself be carried away with it. Aaron is too perfect, and Zach a little too over the top, but I like the balance they create and the heat they generate. I rate this a reread and a keeper.

7082 locations, a proper length and good value for money.

Read this book! It's awesome. I couldn't put it down. The whole love at first sight thing was a bit cliche because it's not realistic to commit to forever without really even knowing the other person, but this is gay romance land so I didn't care! The emotions in this story were so real and extremely well written. A great read. I definitely recommend.

In the author's bio, it states that Cardeno C. is a hopeless romantic.

And that is a perfect description for this book. Zach, a city slut with a childhood history of abuse and Aaron, a big, tall, gorgeous sweetheart of a man, meet at Zach's brother's house when Zach returns to his home town for the first time in a decade, to attend his mother's funeral. The rest of the book is a love story. A pretty simple love story. Some minor angst, some major adjustments until the pair builds a life together, a life in which each other is "home".

It's a very well-written book and, dare I say it, lovely? It's sweet and passionate and all about building not just a relationship, but a family, with all that entails.

Is it too sweet? Probably. But, you know, in this age of dissension, angst and anger, no one and nothing should be condemned for being too sweet - especially when the characters are so well-drawn, attractive and engaging.

It is, after all, Gay Romance, not a political thriller. And the talented Cardeno C. brings that genre to a polished, absorbing and moving level that rises well above the normal cliches and memes of so many other Gay Romance authors.

If you're looking for something that's just good to read, reassuring and beautiful, read "He Completes Me".

I am clearly running out of descriptive words for this series. Even reading the series out of order. In this story, Aaron and Zach meet when Zach comes home for his mother's funeral. Zach has been away for many years, leaving after high school and not looking back. Aaron is waiting for the love of his life and knows when he meets Zach that he is it. Through a series of miscommunication between them, Aaron remains steadfast and true, until Zach finally believes he can have all he has ever wanted. Great story, amazing characters, I can't say enough about this series!
