Product Description
Though it aired for only two seasons the classic 1980s cartoon series HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE remains a nostalgic favorite of anyone who grew up in the Reagan era. Originally created to sell a line of action figures the syndicated series transcended its toy-tie-in roots with imaginative storytelling hand-drawn animation and an adroit blend of action fantasy and science-fiction.The series follows the mythical adventures of a mild-mannered royal whose magic sword transforms him into a loinclothed Prince Valiant-coiffed muscleman known as He-Man the most powerful being in the universe. Together with a loyal band of followers--including his pet tiger Cringer; his man-at-arms Duncan; the beautiful captain of the guards Teela; a cloaked floating magician Orko; and his winged mentor Sorceress--He-Man fights to protect the magically-powered Castle Greyskull from the evil clutches of his skull-faced nemesis Skeletor who presides over his own army of supervillains. This collection presents the first half of the second season with episodes 66 through 98.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 787364671090

Also I would like to mention i'm 21 year old male and was not born in the He-man generation. However, this cartoon still stands up todays standard and is definitely without a doubt one of the best cartoons ever made!
He-Man and Skeletor are continuing their beautifully animated battle of good vs evil in Eternia.
Buy all four volumes of season 1 and 2 and stack them side by side on your shelves to enjoy the picture the covers make. Without giving anything away, you can look forward to a good set of extras too.
I'm hanging out in hope that they'll release She-Ra season 2 this year as the obvious follow-up to this.

This show, which ran from 1983 to 1985, is fantastic! But, perhaps, you had to be there - as a child of the 80's - to appreciate this cartoon. While the animation itself has stood the test of time, aspects of the storytelling (e.g. the moral epilogues) may appear dated to some viewers. As an adult, I can identify that this was a show of its time: with two super-powers at loggerheads, one considered an evil empire and the other as a bastion of freedom. And so the USSR vs the USA becomes Skeletor vs He-Man ... But, of course, as a child such global politics was beyond me!
This cartoon is all about fun, fantasy and action. The world of Eternia and its fantastic environments, coupled with the colourful and amazing characters, is so appealing that it easily captures the imagination. He-Man is a great super-hero, and Skeletor is such an enticing villain. The episodes of this show tend to focus on the battles between these enemies ... but there are plenty of other bad guys who try to give He-Man a challenge.
The show has no real continuity, and you can watch episodes in any order. Some episodes are not quite as good as others. But the best of this animated series is terrific. It defined the mid-1980's in terms of children's entertainment, and promoted a $billion toy industry ... the figures were the stuff of dreams!
I've recently re-visited this series, and watched all of these episodes. Today, I think they'll appeal to both the original fans (who are probably in their 40's) and to young kids (aged 4 to 8) ... There's still a lot of fun to be had with "Masters of the Universe". If you enjoy this box set, I recommend the other 3 sets - which complete the collection.
The episodes included are:
1.The Cat and the Spider
2.The Energy Beast
3.Day of the Machines
4.The Gamesman
5.Fisto's Forest
6.The Rarest Gift of All
7.The Great Books Mystery
8.Origin of the Sorceress
9.Island of Fear
10.To Save Skeletor
11.The Ice Age Cometh
12.Trouble in Trolla
13.Betrayal of Stratos
14.Disappearing Dragons
15.The Shadow of Skeletor
16.The Arena
17.Attack from Below
18.Into the Abyss
19.Fraidy Cat
