After suffering the burdens of infertility for 5 years, the good news of the gospel presented in this book is what finally broke through my pain! The information and perspective presented in this book did wonders to validate our decisions in light of God's word. This affirmation immediately bolstered our confidence and gave us the assurance that we are not defined by our infertility...but our identity rests in Him who alone is the giver (and taker) of life! Katie looks at infertility for the Christian woman from all angles in a raw, honest fashion. She, as a barren woman herself, identifies with the pain of infertility and acknowledges the ways it invades every aspect of daily life, all the while leading us back to our hope in Christ! While this short book is an "easy-read", it is not "easy to read". It is emotional, convicting (even when I didn't want to be convicted), and presents an unpopular (but accurate) Biblical perspective of infertility. But by the end, I found myself wanting to share this book with everyone I know!

I do not struggle with infertility, but I have friends who do, so I read this book.

About a year ago, I had a conversation with an acquaintance. It felt like one of those reading comprehension tests you take in middle school - the well-meaning (but clueless) person recited just about every single platitude that gets thrown around these days. Because I had read this book, I was able to respond in a meaningful way and explain how many common responses to barrenness are neither helpful nor Biblical.

Afterwards, I was exhausted. I cannot even imagine what it's like to have to listen to some of the things I heard on a regular basis, which I'm sure is what happens when you conspicuously do not have children. Do your barren sisters, daughters, and friends a favor. Read this book. It provides solid guidance on what is helpful (and what is not).

This book is wonderful. This journey that we are on is terrible and heartbreaking and the author seems to deeply understand that pain. I appreciate that this is not another fluffy book that is trying to convince me that everything will be ok, but that it is real, raw and perfectly captures every emotion that I am walking through in my infertility journey. Every chapter welcomes me into a safe place where it's ok to be sad, ok to cry and ok to not have answers, and then points me back to God to seek comfort and restoration.
I recommend this book to anyone who believes in God and has wrestled, or is wrestling, with infertility.

This book takes a devotional approach to the struggles so many women have when they discover that they are not able to have their own children or when they miscarry. The author takes a lovely Christian approach to the topic. I have given the book as a gift to friends who share their struggles with me and it is the go-to book for them especially when they are feeling particularly down about being barren. Instead of recommending techniques, therapies and adoption agencies, this book speaks directly to the grieving soul and comforts readers with the gospel of Christ- the only One who can give us the fullness of life. For me, the book has given me wisdom about how to counsel and comfort those who suffer through barrenness.

A great little book in which katie shares openly about her own struggles with infertility. Each chapter describes a challenge in the infertility journey, and the reader is led back to Jesus in each circumstance and thought pattern. There are some "Lutheran" references that I was unfamiliar with, being a Southern Baptist, but the overwhelming majority of this book is straight from the author's heart and the Lord's Word. Highly recommend!

If you are going through IVF without success, are tired, emotionally drain, and feeling alone, this book won't do anything for you. According to this, the answer is accept without questioning the fact that God's will for you is to be infertile, barren. So, not very useful for the ones that don't want to give up.

This book was amazing! Someone who is struggling with infertility this book really speaks to your soul. Katie Schuermann really speaks to your heart and knows how it feels. It's a beautiful encouraging read and I recommend anyone struggling with anything to do with pregnancy/miscarriage/infertility to read this. Even if you know someone, this will really help you understand their struggle better.
