I bought this as I wanted a iPad case with some style and this fit the bill. It is cool and your friends will think so too!
A few weeks after installing this I dropped my iPad for the first time. You can imagine the sucking in of my breath. It dropped from about 3 ft onto a hardwood floor. I looked and the Etch A Sketch case was in pieces. I picked up the iPad and it was intact, without a scratch. While the Etch A Sketch case came a part, it snapped right back together and held together tight ever since.
The reason I would have given this a 4 star rating is that by the end of the first month of using this, the gold paint on the Etch A Sketch logo was rubbing off. About 1/2 of it was gone. That was a bummer, because that is large part of how folks get the gag of the cover. Well I contacted GetAHeadcase Customer Support and told them about my problem. They express shipped me a replacement which I fully expected to have the same problem. I have been using this for over a month and there is no gold paint loss so ever. So from my experience, and the comments from a couple other reviewers, the gold paint flaking off has been a problem that has been fixed. If you get one that flakes, they will replace it with a new one.
I checked the warranty and it is good for a year. I figure that if the paint it still on after a year, it will continue to be stay on.
+ well made
+ easy to open with a quarter
+ lots of fun
+ can leave pad in car and no-one bothers to steal it
+ did I mention fun ?
+ +10 geek points
- like so many cases, not compatible with the ipad dock
- Can't keep the kids away from it now.
First run seemed to be limited. Hope they make more.
This product fits the bill. Everyone comments about it and bring up that at first glance, mine does not appear to be an iPad. This gives you an idea of how close it matches the Ohio Art toy of youth. A bonus is adding the Etch a Sketch app from iTunes.
I knew ahead of time that I would have to do minor modifications for an iPad 2, but it's not mentioned elsewhere. The iPad itself fits great, but the opening for the camera on the front is just a little bit off from the lens, nor is there an opening on the back for the other camera lens. It's nothing a dremel cant fix, but if you're expecting to put your 2 in there and be ready to go, you will be disappointed. (I most certainly am not.)
If you want to feel like a kid again, if only for a minute or two, outfit your iPad in this nostalgic case. Up the ante by purchasing the app, too. Why not have some fun with your iPad?
The thickness of the plastic makes the buttons a little difficult to press, but otherwise it works fine.
Too bad the white knobs do not rotate and non-functional; it would have been really neat if they could be used to draw.
Most importantly, you have to remove the case (and remember it is very hard to get it on and off) to use the headphone jack or the camera adapter. While the case is cut out for all the necessary adapters and chargers, it is thick enough to cause a recess in the attchment areas too deep to actually reach the jacks. I have stopped using the case and put it away.
