Nice followup to Prelutsky's original Nightmares book. Now we have two "read aloud in the dark with a white hanky on the flashlight under the chin to enhance the mood" volumes for the grandkids. :-)

If you like horror or mutilation, you will like this book. My favorite stories are the headless Horseman and the Zombie.

I did not buy this book from Amazon, but still wanted to write a review. We are using this book in our homeschool as an introduction to poetry and as a source for wonderful vocabulary words. My nine year old son loves the stories and the vocabulary is perfect. Not dumbed down or simplified for kids, but expecting them to rise to that level instead.

If you like Jack Prelutsky, you should love this book. Some of the poems might trouble younger ones as they are quite vivid in detail, like the zombie, standing over your bed waiting to eat you. Other than that, it is an excellent read, not very long, but still enjoyable.

This is a classic book. I wanted a copy to have to read with my grandson who is now 8 yrs. old. He liked the poems but found a couple to be just a little too scary. Nevertheless, when I think of Halloween and fall season this classic always comes to mind, especially with the poem THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN RIDES TONIGHT.

My class read this book as part of the poetry unit. They really liked it. Some of the poems are very eerie and creepy. It's a unique addition to my poetry genre.
