By providing the reader with a superbly complex plot, Ward strategically keeps the reader's eyes on the page at all times. The story's almost staccato rhythm forces the reader to continuously keep checking their proverbial "rear view mirror " in order to keep their bearings in this tale.
The blending of three ships--two Enterprises with a Romulan Warbird doing a part-time protagonist gig--is extremely well-balanced and demonstrates Ward's skill and his deftness as a story teller.
I have been reading his stories for many years now. I have never been disappointed--ever!
And neither will you!
The differences in this story demonstrate beyond a doubt this unique differences this story brings to the Star Trek franchise! Bravo Dayton!
Bottom line is this is a fun read and I recommend it to any fan.
