The con however is a deal breaker for me at this stage. The pair I received struggles to play music with high notes. It's apparent when listening to Hello by Adelle, and you can very clearly hear slight cracking when listening to Murder Song (acoustic) by Aurora. Just listing the specific songs in case someone wants to look into it. Even in cases where the high notes are clear they have a tendency to be overly sharp and uncomfortable to listen to (uncomfortable as in it hurts ever so slightly). I've contacted Anker about this and I'm on the fence about returning it. I don't know if it's specifically an issue with lower end headphones or if it's a defective driver in the ones that I received. Will update the review if something changes.
Sound is fantastic.. honestly was not expecting much as these are only 69$ but these blew my mind off .. the bass is awesome.. sound is crisp and clear even at full volume. Never experienced this for under 100$ headphones.
If these were 129-149$ I wouldn’t have complained..these exceeded expectations..
At this price these are no brainer.. go grab yourself a pair !!
This is my first Anker product and I am impressed!!
Kudos to Anker..
PS: this is just a short term review. I will comeback after a week to provide additional feedback.
- Super comfortable.
- Superb sound quality. Nice highs, and mids without an overwhelming bass.
- Nice package with basically everything you need for travel.
- No extra batteries to fumble with.
- Huge indexing letters inside the cups.
- Super simple pairing that works.
- None really. Especially for the price.
Concerns and stuff:
- The cups being so soft and comfortable I'm curious how long they will last being compressed so much. Additionally curious if Anker will provide replaceable cushions in the future.
- There was a slight PU leather smell when I first opened up the package and headphones, but it went away in about an hour.
- I have only had these for a day and about 6 hours of usage, I will update the review if anything changes. First impression, Anker knocked it out of the park with these headphones.
My one knock on the Soundcore Vortex is with the low battery notification. While I appreciate a tone every-once-in-a-while when the battery gets low, these give you an audio alert once you hit 30%, and then it repeats every 30-45 seconds until you charge them. I did contact Anker, and they are aware of other complaints about the frequency of the notification, and there's really nothing that can be done. I absolutely love Anker, so hopefully this is something the fix with future Soundcore headphones/earbuds.

Well, they won’t be returned, their mine! The build quality is fantastic. I love the way they snap open and shut, it has that quality feel much akin to closing a quality car door and that reassuring clunk. The quality of the build overall is great. I have headphones costing £200 + that aren’t as well built as these, I kid you not. The plastic used is of premium quality whilst the metal and memory foam are again, quality.
What can I say, it is sublime. They put some of my higher priced Sennheisers and Audio Technicas to shame. The lows are low without distortions, the mids lift the sound beautifully and reassuringly ending with the highs again sounding wonderful with no distortion.
Included with the headphones you get a quality case. You also get a reasonably long 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. A charging cable has also been included which all adds up to a very decent package. If you bare in mind that buying the case alone would have cost north of £10 then this has got to be the deal I wouldn’t go so far as saying a lifetime, but you get my drift.
In closing I cannot recommend these high enough. Everything about the whole package is quality, there are no cons. Give them a go. What’s the worse that is going to happen? You have to return them ,but something tells me that this option won’t be a problem. Go on give them a go. You’ll love them.
I've got one of the little bluetooth waterproof Soundcore speakers and was suitably impressed with that, hence buying these.
I needed some new headphones as my old corded in-ear ones are a bit broken! I fancied trying some over the ear ones for a change to see if they blocked out a bit more external sound. Yep - they sure do. The wife likes to sew, so with her sewing machine clattering away it was most distracting playing on my xbox with in-ear headphones.
Tried these out on the weekend and they blocked out a huge amount of sound. Not 100%, but then I can't have that as I wouldn't hear when she was nagging me then!
I have tried them both wired (xbox controller) and bluetooth-ly. No discernible difference in any audio quality, not that I confess to being an audiophile by any means.
Bluetooth distance was way more than acceptable, I was 2 x 30cm (12" for the Americans) brick walls away - around 8-9 metres - before sound started breaking up. I wondered why the sound was breaking up and then I realised I'd left my phone 2 rooms away. Pretty good in anyone's book.
The box was reassuringly heavy when I received it, opening up the box and the semi-hard case supplied (contains 3.5-3.5 and USB charging cables in a neat little mesh pocket) is a great bonus. I also really like the little loop that is used to grab and unzip. means I can easily use a little carabiner and hook them onto a rucksack - great when travelling.
I also really like the fact that L and R are labelled into the headphones in great big letters. Maybe a small thing to some, but we've all spent ages trying to read a really small letter to see which side is which right? I don't need to reach for my reading glasses to figure this out now. Again, small touches that go a long way.
Sound wise, really happy. I listen to mostly heavy rock, but have tried with a few acoustic tracks. Shinedown's cover of Simple Man was fabulous! so clear.. Heavier stuff, again fab. No issues to report at all. One of the reviews I read on Amazon US was that the buyer would have been happy with them at $150. I agree, didn't think I'd be so impressed with such a small cost. I hate using the word cheap, as it has all sorts of implications. These are anything but - definitely on the more premium end of the scale. the hinges for when you fold them up into the case appear to be aluminium. I can see these lasting a long time.
Only negative I can find so far is that the ear hole is a little small. But I have pretty big ears! and the memory foam means it just molds to shape anyway - same goes for glasses, wearing my reading glasses with these on was no issue. I couldn't really notice anything pressing in.
All in all, a great bit of kit - well happy for the price.
These sound great better then the in-ear Sennheiser I have, I have also tried the hands-free calling on the headphones in Bluetooth mode and the sound is excellent and everyone can hear me clearly. The sound when playing back music is great with aptX detected on my Sony Xperia XZ with no eq enabled and highs/mids/bass is well balanced and no distortion.
The headphone have a nice foam feeling to them and fits over my ears perfectly and I also wear glasses and they don't push the frames into my head, they also have an adjustment to make them fit larger heads.
They seem to have great battery life I have only charged them once since having them so I cant tell you exactly when they will need to be charged or how long they will last but it seems the battery life is long.
I have tested the range of the headphones by putting the phone down in the living room and walked around the house and no dropouts or anything (Two Bedroom House). I have used the included corded cable and that works as expected it comes with a button (Play/Pause, Google Assistant) and mic on the cable. It comes in a nice travel case to keep them safe whilst travelling around on stuffing into a bag.
I would highly recommend these at this price point as it has the option to be also wired if the battery runs out, And the sound alone comparable to expensive headphones.
Da ich immer wieder gerne die Produkte von Anker nutze und deren super Sound und Kundenservice Über alles wertschätze habe ich mich als Musikjunkie gleich an das Angebot rangemacht.
Was habe ich erwartet?
In short: absolute incredible pair of headphones. The best compliment I can pay them is that they are even better than all of the Beats and Bose I have used previously. The sound is truly outstanding, the comfort is incredible, the battery life is faultless, and the noise cancelling is as good as the others (while I haven't rated this aspect 5* because I can still hear background noise when no music is playing, the same can be said for Beats and Bose which are supposedly the best for this). In fact, these are so good, I can barely take them off and I listen to them constantly out side of the gym as well. Additionally, I absolutely love the aesthetic design, which is fantastic and almost exactly the same as Beats Studios.
Don't think that because they're £80, that they'll not be as good as £300+ Beats or Bose. They are so much better. Thoroughly recommending them to everyone I speak to and who ask me what headphones they are in the gym!
These are absolutely brilliant. Have no sound issues at all on a fairly noise train commute, not having to adjust the volume for video that range between soft speech and high action (so loud), yet have still be aware of announcements. Very comfortable, no pinching or rubbing only only notice warm ears once you have taken them off, and the hard case is a bonus. Battery life is really good had them almost a month and not had to re-charge them yet (60 minutes of use a day on average at medium volume).
Had a couple of initial issues with them turning themselves on. However, I think this was because I had enabled them as a trusted device. Deleted and re-paired with this turned off and not had an issue since.
Fault developed : cant be turned off, does not pair. Had for for just one week.
Update: some USB chargers are not suitable for this headphones! I used Kindle charger at home and it charges it fine, however, at work I plugged it into another charger (no brand) and it caused it to freeze. Took them home to pack and decided to plug it into my charger as a last try and it worked.
So, my advice is use good quality charger to avoid this problem.
Other than this- yes, they are comfortable to wear, minimal sound leaking, may be a little big.
Nice quality solid case included.
Not the lightest and rather big and bulky, prone to sweaty ears after a couple of hours. However, reasonably comfortable and work well when wearing spectacles. Passive sound isolation good, as you would expect from full ear coverage, sound a little bright initially but over 20 hours use warmed considerably, ideal for voice and podcasts, but possibly a little lacking in drive for music. My biggest issue and the dropping of two stars is the bluetooth, horribly unreliable interference from UK traffic light causes it to drop out every time I cross a road, similar experience if I pass a taxi close by so obviously a problem with radio frequency interference. Tried this on three different devices and it still drops out, however, I don't experience any problem with the bluetooth on the excellent Anker SoundCore Spirit X or SoundBud Curves. About to give up and invest in some less bulky, noise cancelling headphones with rock solid bluetooth.
The sound quality is average, there is zero noise cancellation, there is a lot of noise leakage, they're not very comfortable if wearing for more than an hour, the style is quite unattractive, the buttons are small/odd shaped which makes them hard to find/push, the Bluetooth connection also has disconnected randomly a few times (could be my phone, but doesn't happen with other bluetooth devices...). So overall a pretty bad product in my opinion, I've read some reviews suggesting these are on par with the QC35 and similar tier headphones which I really struggle to understand.
I know that these headphones do not claim to be ANC and therefore it shouldn't be called out as a flaw, but I think it should be mentioned, I really struggle to hear anything clearly when commuting or travelling due to any small background noise interfering with the music.
I terms of sound quality, they do an okay job, again if you're in a public space you'll struggle to hear the music over any background noise, unless you turn the volume up extremely loudly which will result in damaged hearing and allow everyone nearby you to hear what you're listening to... I own a pair of the SoundBuds which I use for running, they cost about £20 and I find the sound quality and comfort of them better than the Soundcore Vortex.
I feel I should also add, in my opinion, the headphones are huge! The cups stick by a quite a few inches (more than other style headphones) which I think is a bit odd. I was also disappointed by Anker's customer service for not allowing me to return the product after 30 days even though it was still in perfect condition - policy feels a bit dated, especially for a product like headphones which should hold resale value.
The case they come with is really good and as for battery life, it seems fine (as you would expect from Anker) but haven't used them enough to comment on the long-term battery performance as I won't be using the headphones - I will be sticking with Sony/Bose for the meantime
The bluetooth is decent, as is the audio. It has a working range of around 3 metres; beyond that, it starts to cut out. I'm currently using these headphones for gaming, and it's been pretty reasonable.
However, listening to yourself may be difficult. The over-the-ear headphones are quite thicker than you expect. It's fine for comfort, but your speaking will be a bit muffled. And turning on "Listen to Microphone" in your PC settings won't work, due to the bluetooth delay. You may also feel the audio buttons are slightly cheap; they can be a bit difficult to find when you're wearing them.
On the other hand, the downside of not being able to hear yourself can be a boon for those who want the outside world to be dampened. And the cheap buttons match the contour of the headphones nicely. Overall, combined with a good long-lasting battery life, these headphones are definitely worth the price.
I also like they come with a lead if the 20 hour battery life goes or you are using on a plane and not permitted to use Bluetooth.
The case is a fantastic touch to protect and store the headphones ( shell type case)
Overall I'm very happy with them and feel they are worth the money I spent on them. You could spend a lot more on designer label headphone which are more style than substance but for me these Anker ones fit the bill perfect.
