What I particularly enjoyed was the introduction to Kundalini yoga. It was interesting to see how different kriyas can be useful to different types, and, similar to the enneagram section, it was very approachable and easy to understand. The pictures were helpful, and the instructions were straightforward.
Overall, I liked the connection between the two systems. Once a person know his/her enneagram type, the questions of what does that mean and what should I do come up pretty quickly. By connecting the type to an approach of breathing and meditation, this book helps give a tangible path forward for everyone.
I highly recommend this book!!! It’s very readable, providing simple, actionable advice on how to let thing go and to become happier in the process.
Lynn Ruolo's beautifully produced book has brought the study down to earth for me, and tied it together simply with my yoga practice. For people who recognize certain personality patterns in the positions on the Enneagram--Yes, I'm a caretaker, or Sheesh, my boss is really a control freak--it's wonderful to read the book's gentle reminders of the gifts that people in each group bring to the world, and the things that members of each group experience that prompt us to feel empathy and compassion. Her writing is clear and precise, and the book has been lovingly produced. I have now bought three copies, because I consider it a wonderful gift for friends who are on a path of personal and spiritual growth.
Reading that book really streched my understanding of how people think and why they react in one way or another. I find myself re-reading parts of it often.
The funny thing is then to try to identify which types are the people around you after you read the book. Combining it with the Kundalini approach also gives some practicals tools to work on yourself which I liked and found very interesting.
A must-read for anyone interesting in knowing themselves better and the people around them.
Went into the reading with some baseline knowledge of the Enneagram and found the book’s overview a good summary. Particularly liked the idea that an awareness of personality types, our own and others, can be a tool for greater compassion.
Knew little about Kundalini Yoga and found the book’s history, method, and instruction to be clear and concise. Jumped to the chapter on my personality type and liked the short personal narratives that really fleshed it out. The images and written instructions made the yoga easy to follow. Been doing the exercises for about a week now and definitely feel more centered.
I highly recommend this book.
