Heal Me, A Touched Trilogy #2 by Angela Fristoe
Lily has a gift that is harder to use than she has given anyone a clue about. The emotional and physical toll her gift takes on her is heartbreaking. As she learns more about how to use her gift I definitely held out hope for her to get a HEA. I am totally sucked into these characters and hope book 3, Watch Me is available to read soon.
I like the story, the main character and the rest of characters (most of them). I like watching Lily trying to gain control over her life and her gift. I see her struggling and desperately looking for help and finally succeeding.
As I wrote I like Lily, her sisters (most of the time), her friends. But there is one character I don’t like. And that is Micah. He is so selfish and so self-centred that I … just cannot believe he is rewarded at the end.
The guy is really pathetic. He says Lily is his best friend. He sometimes has sex with Lily. He invites her sister for coffee and keeps it secret. I guess he knows it’s not O.K. He compares Lily and her said sister Chloe in class – Lily is pathetic, the sister is wonderful. Then he says “I’m sorry”. Get it? Everyone in the class, the teacher included, is shocked and disgusted (besides Lily’s sister!) and he just says “I’m sorry”. Do you humiliate your best friend in public and says “I’m sorry”?!? I don’t say he needs to love her. But when you say to sb they are your best friend, you have sex with them, they probably can expect some loyalty and respect from you. So, Micah is not loyal and respectful. He treats his “best friend” Lily like a dirt cloth and he does it with a seductive smile on his face! Yuck!
I am also astounded that Lily’s own sister, Chloe, defends Micah. Is she blind and deaf. I really doubt her intelligence. Is her intelligence quotient really so low??? You could expect your sister to be your support in such a case.
I would like some other guy for Lily. Somebody like Owen maybe, who seems to be a really good friend. And the way Micah appears at the end, all in love and protective, isn’t convincing at all really. It missed the boat. What’s done cannot be undone and Micah is Micah – the guy who takes and doesn’t give.
My conclusion is: Teen girls and young women! Don’t believe the author when she says such a guy deserves your time and attention. He doesn’t!!! If a guy is disrespectful, disloyal, cruel to you and other people around he is not a guy you need. He is a guy you should definitely avoid!
