About this item
- Make sure this fits by entering your model number.
- Measure Calorie Intake - GoBe uses an advanced algorithm to analyze your body's changing glucose concentrations, giving you a complete picture of your calorie and nutritional intake over time-through your skin, with no manual logging of meals or activities.
- Heart Rate Monitor- The Healbe GoBe can show your blood pressure at rest, which in turn is evaluated through the physical activity index and heart rate. You just have to press a button to check it out.
- Water Consumption/Fluid Levels - The Healbe GoBe Body Manager helps you accurately keep track of your water balance on a daily basis without you having to worry about it, using a special patented algorithm based on tissue impedance, which estimates the amount of water inside and outside of your cells.
- Sleep Monitor - Sleep habits can vastly impact the quality of your life. The Healbe GoBe Body Manager algorithm pairs accelerometer data with your breathing rate and heart rate, which both significantly increase during REM. This makes the Body Manager 3 times more likely to wake you up at the best-possible time.
- That's it: No more detoxing, no more crash-diets, and no more healthy-living myths. Develop healthy habits and stick with them. Compatible with Apple and Android Devices

I concur with the majority of reviewers' assessments that the KCal algorithm in general is way off a lot of the time.
I'm not as impressed with the Sleep feature as others seem to be. There have been a few times where I've woken up, say twice, during the night. But the GoBe would have only registered me as having woken up only once, for example. Not a deal breaker. But I'm just sayin'...
In any case, I've found over the years that the best way to guage how well I've slept, is to simply sense internally whether I feel rested or not. Works like a charm! And it's free!
I do have to say though, that I am morbidly fascinated by the fact that my heart beat gets as low as 40bpm for a few minutes some nights. I take that as an omen that one day my long-held deathwish of dieing in my sleep (when it's my time) just might be granted.
The GoBe (flashed with the December 2015 firmware) and the app (v1.2.2), went into an infinite "Sync Me...Sync Me" loop after I hit the "Reconnect" button on the app's Wristband page. Or was it the "Reset" button on the "Service Info [Show]" page? It was one or the other of those. I forget which now.
The device and the app would continously "establish a connection — attempt to sync — fail to sync — disconnect — establish a connection — attempt to sync — fail to sync — disconnect — establish a connection...". The GoBE would be flashing "Sync Me...Sync Me...Sync Me" the whole time. Then it would eventually say "Bye" and shut itself off.
It was at 100% charge when this first started happening. Interestingly, _something_ told me that it would eventually reset itself after it ran out of charge and then be able to resync. Sure enough, it ran out of charge after about 4 days of repeatedly turning the wristband on intermittently over the course of 4 days. Each instance of turning the wristband on, the GoBe would display "Sync Me...Sync Me...Bye...". Then it would eventually shut itself off after about 5 minutes. Each iteration of that "Sync Me...Sync Me...Bye...Shutdown" cycle, resulted in the GoBe's charge consistently reducing by 1%. I did that manually a total of 50 times over the course of the first 2 days. Then I just let the remaining 50% charge drain itself off (without me manually turning the device on) over the next 2 days. I then recharged the wristband. Then everything was back to normal. The two connected and resynced like champs — as if nothing had ever happened.
Although it majorly sucks that the GoBe ever crashed in the first place like it did, I'm nevertheless impressed that it eventually recovered in exactly the way I _somehow_ predicted it would.
Summary: If you need your calorie counting done with perfect accuracy, forget about it. It's _never_ gonna happen with a consumer-grade wearable device. But if you can derive any value from the GoBe's very broad, very general anthropometric data number crunching — which tells you something like, "in-general-you've-eaten-more-than-you've-burned-today" type of thing — then it kinda sorta does an OK job of that, I guess.
My overall impression after 1 week's use of the GoBe, is the GoBe's 2015 retail asking price is way too much! Given what it kinda sorta does do, I put it being maybe worth realistically $80-$100 retail.
I'm not sure to be honest. There are small issues and there are large ones as well.
On the positive side, it does measure something when it comes to kcals, steps, sleep and stress.
One thing I just realized is that if you don't have your Gobe with you and powered up, you cant access your data with the app. You are forced to the web browser in that case. That will probably be fixed in future app releases (I'm an Android user).
Gobe measures 5 (6 if you count steps) key areas:
- Energy (with steps and distance)
Gives you an estimate of consumed and expended energy. For some it seems to work, for others it is totally off.
- Water balance
Manualk water tracking. You need to open the app (which means you have to sync it with your Gobe which drains the Gobes batteries) and tap a water glass. The water levels that the Gobe thinks you should drink are hilarious, and bordeline dangerous.
- Heart
It measures your heart rate and blood pressure, but not continuously.
- Sleep
Also shows REM sleep. bradycardia, arrhytmia and heart block. Works pretty good.
- Stress
Gives you some stress levels. For me, they do not show my state of mind. Could work for you
The positives:
* Cool
* Conversation starter
* Data accessible on all devices
The negatives
* Battery time is a disaster, you will need to charge it every day
* The pressing of the button. The button is indistinct and hard to press
* The sync process takes time and I usuially have to kill the app and restart to get it to sync.
Summary:
First off, read my blog post - it is much more detailed.
The Gobe consists och three things: The hardware, the algorithms and the app.
I do think that the hardware will be redesigned in the future. An easier button to press, better charging setup and better battery life should be on the top of Healbes todo list. Therefore I am hesitant to give two thumbs up to someone looking to by a Gobe.
The app needs more developer time, and will probably get it as well. The same goes for the algorithms.
Buy the Gobe if you want a cool device that probably works. It is better than doing what the Gobe does manually anyway.
If you want a work out companion you are better off with a Polar, a Suunto or a gymwatch. Combine it with a bluetooth HR band and you have all the training data you need in sports tracker, runkeeper etc.
The other feature that I love about it is the sleep tracking. It does a better than expected job of giving me detail on my sleep phases and quality of sleep. I was really surprised at how consistently well it tracks this. Because of that, I happily wear it all the time and only take it off to charge it.
First, the iOS app wouldn't connect, saying 'could not find gobe in the database'.
After two days, got a response from support asking to uninstall the app, and re-install.. that worked.
Unfortunately, now, it connects to the gobe, and it proceeded to update the firmware (normal for these type of devices)
However, it got stuck. the message now is 'fail to upload firmware', the device is stuck with an 'update' message, and when I reconnect, it continues displaying the same message over and over and over again...
Do they even test this device before shipping?? Too immature, too much of a beat product that may one day work, but is not ready yet.
I'll return it and (maybe) buy v2.0 (if they ever get there)
