Product Description

The healing vibrations of this harp music will make you feel as though you've had a brain massage! The cells of your body as well as your ears respond to music. The invisible energy of the harp, which is one of the oldest known musical instruments used for healing, can change the electrical activity of the brain. The selections on this album are a mixture of classical, popular, new age, religious and improvisation, all weaving together to achieve the positive vibrations for achieving peace and healing.

About the Artist

Sally Fletcher, harpist, has known since she was four years old that she was meant to be a musician in this life. She has forgotten this from time to time (sometimes for several years!), but always returns to music. Sally had epileptic seizures for many years - the result of a concussion from an ice skating fall. She couldn't undo the skating accident, and since medication didn't work for her, she found other options. Her book, "The Challenge of Epilepsy," describes the various methods that helped her. She knows from experience what it is like to be diagnosed with a supposedly incurable disorder. She has been seizure-free for 17 years. Her next book will be, "Music & Healing."

This CD offers the most relaxing and uplifting music I've heard in a long time. Either in the car on a busy commute to remain calm and focused or after a hard day at work, the CD helps me relax and release stress. I highly recommend this music if you want to unwind.

highly recommend this cd...I play it often, especially when I have something hard and frustrating to do and it helps me get through it. I also play it when I just need to try to calm down, or when I just want to enjoy its beauty

We listen to this almost every evening during dinner. The children often ask for it to be played when they get ready for a nap in the afternoon or bedtime in the evening.
As the description says, it is like having a brain massage.

This is an absolute wounderful CD. Ms Fletcher has brought the harp to new hights of excellency. I am an RNC in a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) with very sick and premature infants. I brought this CD to play softly in the NICU for the infants. The parents, the staff and the babies love it. Crying babies are soothed, parents are comforted and relaxed upon entering the room where the music is played softly. In some cases I have seen little heart rates steady and labored breathing be come easier upon hearing this CD played softly. I am going to purchase one for my home. All parents of newborns should have this cd for themselves and the baby.

This review is part of a series I'm doing on harp CDs born of my hunt for the perfect harp-only CD for not only general enjoyment, but particularly for relaxation. The first CD I reviewed for this series is recommended, though not as highly for relaxation purposes, and can be found here New York Harp Ensemble: Works By Albinoni, Bach, Beethoven, Boccherini, Mozart, Marcello, Pachelbel, Gretry, Scarlatti, and Albrechtsberger. While I do not wish to create redundancy as both reviews are meant as part of a comparative set, I will repeat that my quest for the perfect harp CD was spurred by hearing some background music online featuring harp that I can only describe as ethereal and subsequently noticing one of two roaming harp soloists, who basically go door-to-door offering brief performances to patients at the hospital where I work. These events led me to recognize the intrinsic calming powers of harp music, as I realized that my heart rate rate had considerably slowed with both events.

Why do I keep qualifying my statements with, "harp-only," and, "solely harp?" Well, initially I asked my resident expert in all things musical, my brother, for assistance in finding some harp music. Generously, he bought me a copy of Handel: Harp Concertos, which is apparently a quintessential piece of many a harp afficianados' collections.

I bought this music to listen to as I go to sleep at night, to relax me and cover outside sounds. It does all that and more. It is one of the most beautiful music recordings I have ever heard. Reduces stress, calms the spirit.
