About the Author

John Ott was the developer of time-lapse photography; much of his work was featured in Walt Disney nature films. While working on these projects, he discovered the importance of lighting in growing certain flowers. Experimenting, he discovered that exposure to light and other radiations also affects animal and human growth. His research is causing science to revise its opinions about the therapeutic benefits of light.

This book is very interesting and informative. It sheds light (pun intended) on what so many people are unaware of. If you are new to light and it's effects on health this is a good starting point to understanding it all. It's not only a good story but also informative.

Information on the influences of light on biological processes, and how these processes are thwarted by different types of disturbance of the natural solar radiation. The author reports on biological effects on plants, animals and man. Interesting information for anyone seeking to improve their own health, or those interested in medicine, biology and physics. The information has widespread implications and a potential to benefit product development in lighting / glazing / sun protection and the design of homes and medical facilities, to mention a few. It`s a technical book about scientific findings, but is easy to read, funny and wildly interesting. A book that suggests some easy changes you can implement in your everyday life today, along with others that require some more thought and planning.

i think this book should be required reading for heads of any kind of institution. and an excellent read for everyone else. really good info.
it was surprising to me how different types of light affected so many different things. amazing. if a person really cares about their own health and that of their loved ones, two legged, four legged, feathered or plants, read this book. i plan to reread it very soon. i have told several people about it and got a "ho hum, boring, not interested" type response. i am going to locate the lights, try it out for myself. they are not available at the local big box or little mom and pop stores.

This is now in the top 5 of paradigm changing books that I've read. I have since started listening to Dr. Jack Kruse, who has been inspired, in part, by this book. Kruse has taken it to another level - a quantum one. If you resonate with this book, then I would highly recommend watching Dr. Kruse on YT. His prescription? More AM sunlight.

I bought this book because it was referenced in another book I was reading. And for a few dollars, I thought I'd take the plunge. This book is an amazing read! We take for granted that all "light" is equal. Are we wrong. If you like to think things through, read this book, and then decide if the lights you use in your house are really doing what you need them to do. Sunlight is our friend, and may be far more important to us than we previously realized.

Amazing health information. I really enjoyed how the book was written - summarized the authors experiments and experiences. In summary: natural light = healthy life, and even has active therapeutic effects to the toughest medical conditions. I can only begin to imagine how much the pharmaceutical industry has purposely covered-up or avoided this data. Chronically sick office drones - get yourselves outside for breaks and lunches. Where can I purchase these natural spectrum light bulbs?

I was researching the toxicity of electrical energy systems after having a toxic electromagnetic exposure from a high powered solar photovoltaic system. I was not surprised to find that the toxicity of electromagnetic radiation was well understood in the 1950's. I have also researched the biological growth defects that occur in these fields and have come to the same conclusions as Dr. Ott. I find it very concerning that we are now in a wireless radiation epidemic and that radio wave and microwave sickness has been very well understood by the world governments since the 1930's.

This book is not a recent publish but it is so worth the read. I've learned heaps about how different light sources affect our health. Considering the experiments and research were done in the early 1960's, it is mind boggling how most people don't know (more) about this subject. Oh no wait, it is of course the inconvenient truth! How could one charge for sunlight? There is no money to be made here, same as with all natural remedies. People, please educate yourself so that you can protect your health and heal from ailments brought on by modern technology.
