Required text for school. Illuminating, well-organized, and full of good references, but as it was published in 2008 (pre-Affordable Care Act) it is outdated. The authors should publish a new edition, if they are not already.

I am using this book for my Health Policy class - it is pretty dry and can beat around the bush with too many complicated words - Health Policy is complicated and boring enough - I think I would prefer a nice straight to the point text.

Aftr 4 1/2 years of college and grad school, I found this book about average in quality. It has a totally inadequate and amateurishly built Index with topics rarely revealed making review almost page by page. If this is your required text as it is in the Ashford U MHA program, you will be required to supplement it with outside research a lot.

The wording and explanations and case studies are good, and followups good. The Index is the worst part of it and the onine colloege discussions often need you to access data very succinctly, so if you are a through reader and the small print doesnt dismay you , you are ok.

Strives for a non-partisan factual recitation of what is needed what to avoid, what works and what doesn't work while providing a good overview of health policies.
