his was an awesome prequel Novella for Stacy Green's intense Lucy Kendall series! In this novella we first meet Lucy. Discussed and hardened from her experiences working for the Child Protective Services, and enraged at its failures, she has just began her vigilante life, performing her kind of justice against the pedophiles the system has failed to stop. Lucy is enlisted by a desperate teen to find her friend who is lost within the foster system, Lucy is pulled into a high stakes race to find the teen and the truth.
Once again, Stacy Green will take your breath away with this fast paced race for justice!

I read 2 of the books in this sequel then lost interest. They're OK if you just want something to read but the characters are very one-dimensional. The boyfriend magically appears whenever needed, then disappears until needed again, he's always concerned for her safety yet willing to do whatever she wants, kind of like a robot guardian. The main character has some conflict but seems one-sided and focused on one thing without experiencing the world around her, almost as if its all a dream. I usually learn something in a book about the system its fighting and this one seems to be just about the bad guys and how awful everything is.

The author did a great job of mystery in this book. It kept my interest and I was excited to get back to reading it after a day off. For those who like a mystery that stays focused on the story I highly recommend this book. Don't be afraid to get the book. It's worth the read

The series takes a step back with a look at Lucy Kendall right after she made the decision to leave the Child Protective Services (CPS) agency. She's contacted by one of her former cases who's at risk friend is missing under strange circumstances.

I was so certain this story would help me unravel more of Lucy, helping me decide definitively if she's a true psychopath or just terribly misguided. While I gained a bit more insight, I'm even more conflicted about her!

The case is complex and also takes us inside the CPS, portraying its strengths along with what we know of its weaknesses. I was immediately captivated and couldn't put it down until I finished the story. The ending was a bit of a surprise, catching me a little off stride. Just the way I love it!

Green is proving she's a master at the mystery short storytelling with perfect pacing and nimble writing. And, she's created one of the most fascinating characters in Lucy Kendall.

(I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review)

I must say, I have never been disappointed by Stacy Green and her writing, and I am happy to report this title is no exception. It is interesting to actually take a step back in the sequence of the Lucy Kendall series and read this prequel to All Good Deeds after having read the first three books in the Lucy Kendall series.

The reader is taken back in time when Lucy’s departure from Child Protective Services (CPS) is still fresh. As a disillusioned social worker, Lucy is now on her own dispensing justice to those she sees as unworthy and having escaped punishment through the traditional route (pedophiles) or just have not been caught as of yet. Interesting since Lucy is herself a killer. How can she make the call who should be punished and who should not?

Lucy is scoping out the next predator to dispense with and she recognizes ‘Shannon’, a young woman (who is in fact too young to be in the bar). Lucy approaches Shannon. Through discussions, Lucy finds out that a close friend of Shannon’s, Monique, is missing. Wanting to help Shannon, Lucy embarks upon the task of finding out what happened to Monique. There are many twists and turns (a few caught me totally off guard)….but isn’t that what makes a great mystery? Keep the reader guessing and engaged.

I really enjoyed getting a bit more background on Lucy and her motivation for her actions. It is odd to want to cheer for Lucy and what she does since she is in fact a serial killer herself….going after pedophiles. This additional background adds some needed depth of story to the series.

As always, I enjoy the writing of Stacy Green and will wait patiently for the continuation of this series.

An awesome quick read! The beginning pages suck you in and you don't put it down until you've finished it. Lucy is back at her usual gig when an interest into her old CPS side comes along that she can't resist not getting involved in. Although I wish it would have been a tad longer finishing fully the Cody scene. I received a free copy of this for my honest review.

When young Shannon approached Lucy Kendall, Lucy had no idea what was to come – but her thoughts were only for the kids – the kids who slipped through the cracks; the kids who faced more than anyone should face, let alone young children. Shannon was one of her success stories from when she was in Child Protective Services – though Lucy was now a Private Investigator her first thoughts remained the same – the safety of the kids always came first. Shannon was worried about a friend she had been tutoring; Monique was missing and Shannon couldn’t find any trace of her.

Lucy knew the foster care system was flawed. She knew there were mistakes; she also knew they shouldn’t happen – tracing Monique became her priority. But when she checked out her last known address, Lucy was horrified to discover the brutally savaged body of a male in the kitchen. Was this why Monique was missing?

The police began their investigation and within a matter of days had discovered another body. But they couldn’t locate Monique. Lucy was determined to find her before the police did; she knew she had to help her. But what would she find? Would she find the girl alive or was it too late for her?

Hear No Lies by Stacy Green is a novella set prior to the first Lucy Kendall novel, All Good Deeds. I always enjoy Green’s work, and this one is no exception. The character of Lucy is extremely flawed, but her heart is in the right place. She works on both sides of the law, knowing that one day she could be caught. The twists and turns fill this fast paced novella with the chills making your heart race. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Hear No Lies.
