Heart Breaths: Book of Contemporary Haiku Paperback – March 5, 2016

How to measure a moment: a beat of one's heart, an intake of breath...a moment may be brief, but it is never small. Haiku remind us of the significance of every moment. In this collection, the beauty and magnitude of such moments are presented in this poetic form. As this collection also shows, the "form" of haiku contains many possibilities, from three lines to a single line, horizontal on the page or vertical...Just as no two moments in life are alike, each haiku offers its own surprise, its own revelation. More than an anthology of poetry, Heart Breaths is an anthology of possibilities.

Jean LeBlanc lives in Newton, New Jersey, where she teaches writing and literature at Sussex County Community College. Her poetry is informed by the natural world, from backyard garden to wild woodland. The courses she teaches—American Literature; literature of ancient and medieval Europe—also find their way into her poems. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and in nine collections. She is the executive editor of the Paulinskill Poetry Project in Andover, New Jersey, and editor of their anthologies Voices from Here (2009) and Voices from Here 2 (2017). She has edited collections for Cyberwit.net, and published four collections of short-form poetry (haiku, tanka, haibun) with them. The monthly gatherings of the Writers' Roundtable of Sussex County, New Jersey, are her inspiration to keep finding new poetic ways to explore the world. A sample of her work can be seen on www.jeanleblancpoetry.blogspot.com.
