By: Pam Godwin
This can be read first, as an introduction to the Eve trilogy, or it can be read in between books 1 & 2. This short story takes place in the first book, “Dead of Eve.”
In this dystopian story, there was a worldwide plague over a year and a half ago that decimated the population. No children or elderly survived neither did any women, except for one. Roark is a Catholic priest and the only woman to survive the plague is Eve aka Evie. As fate puts them together, Roark finds himself more tempted than ever to break his vow of celibacy. He questions himself and his pledge to God. Eve trusts Roark and trains with him, and is attracted to him as well. She questions herself about Roark's vow and if she is doing him more harm than good. But the struggles with temptation can be as enigmatic as the steaminess itself.
I have read both books & this novella, loved them all & am eagerly awaiting the final book to be published in winter 2016.
Her eyes fluttered open. “I’ll ruin you, Roark.” I’d never wanted to be ruined so thoroughly in my life, but I would wait for God to give me some direction, to help me find my way around, through, or inside this woman. “Put some faith in my control.”
He needs her on a physical level he's never experienced before. The longing and forbidden nature of their relationship only heightened my experience. Think....Adam and Eve do dystopian romance. That's really the only way to sum this up.
This is my first Pam Godwin read and I'm beyond impressed! Her writing is phenomenal. I've never read a story like this. I was definitely left longing for more. The language is luscious and the storytelling is crisp.
I rate it: 4.5 "Can't wait for more" Stars
This short story is the priest's (Roark) pov from the time he spent in his bunker with Eve from Dead of Eve. I strongly suggest it's read first but if you choose not to you can still easily follow.
Since Eve is the last female on Earth, Roark has made a vow to protect her. Not just from the creatures but also from men. But being in confined quarters is seriously testing his vow of celibacy. When he finally gives in it's HOT HOT HOT!
Type: Short Novella of Trilogy of Eve Series
POV: First Person – Male
"She was my escape from isolation of this brutal world. Even if it meant challenging the celibacy I'd desperately held my entire life."
This book was quick, hot, and so deliciously good. If this is only a quick taste of what this series is going to be I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
We meet Roark; a smoking hot Irish priest with who is tempted by Eve during very bad times. Everyone is dead or dying and no one is left specially kids or woman. Eve is the only females left that they know of and he is willing to do anything to keep her alive. He found Eve and promised to protect her and now keep her.
"I am only human, and she's my ultimate weakness."
Roark finds himself conflicted between desire for this gorgeous woman and the vow he made to God to be a priest and servant of the Lord. But at the end of the world where dead is only left Eve don't care about that she wants Roark as much as he desires her. Finally he gets a sign and he doesn't hesitate to take it.
"She was my vow. Mine to protect. She was my strength. Mine to Love. She was my heart. Mine to fight for."
Lovers of paranormal and sexy quick reads will be appealing to read this wonderful book.
