Heart Flatline to Finish Line is the raw and emotional journey of six cardiac patients from hospital beds to the finish line of one of the world's most grueling endurance events, the Ironman triathlon.
I had a heart attack in 2013 while I was in training for Ironman Wisconsin. I just watched this documentary for the first time last night and it was an emotional roller coaster for me. This documentary brought back a lot of personal feelings that I experienced post heart attack. I have attempted Ironman Wisconsin 4 times and I have not been able to cross that finish line so I could relate to certain aspects of this movie. But this movie helped me understand my own reasoning for having a desire to continue my journey to that finish line. People have always asked me why I would keep going and I've always struggled with giving them a clear cut answer. But now I can just tell them to watch this documentary and they will fully understand. I knew I was going to enjoy this movie but I had no idea how much I was going to love it!
Very intense depiction of people running for their lives. The film goes to great lengths to make clear the passion, drive and motivation of its characters. I was drawn in to their stories and found myself both intrigued and uncomfortable with their choices.I was introduced to a world about which I had no clue and fascinated by their determination. There were moments of very special photography. I mostly appreciated the sincerity of the participants.
I watched this with my 10 years old son who is an avid athlete and has a CHD. Thank you for creating the Ironhead Foundation and helping to inspire people to become more active and spread awareness. We are going to find out if my son can join the Ironheart Team! I appreciated you sharing the messages that although you are never "fixed" with a CHD, you can still do amazing things. I also appreciate you sharing the reality of losing someone to CHD. I thought it was interesting that most of the athletes featured found out about their CHD as adults?
You can feel Dave's struggle with health problems, you can understand the desire for oneself to overcome their obstacles for family and personal meaning. This documentary shows how inner love and your drive to be a better person will empower not only yourself but the people around you. Well shot and interviewed, I'd recommend this to anyone interested in seeing a winning story about health and sports.
This was an incredibly inspiring documentary! It really shows that no matter what life throws at you, you can overcome if you want it bad enough! I can't wait to share this with my team! Thank you Dave for making this happen!
What would you do if given a second chance at life? An inspiring account of cardiac athletes in pursuit of one of sport's most grueling endeavors, the Ironman triathlon. This is an important documentary for anyone whose life has been touched by heart disease. And given the numbers (1 in 3 of us) and the message, just about anyone will enjoy this wonderful movie.
