A Heart for Freedom Kindle Edition
"This is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone book, however, reading them in order will give the reader a fuller grasp of the characters and their relationships. A Heart for Freedom is a gripping romance of the tumultuous beginnings of Colonial America." ~ Amazon review.

April 1775 brings much uncertainty and turmoil in Virginia and the colonies as conflicts with England escalate, which may lead to war. We catch up with Matthew and Heather Stewart in the midst of this conflict. Matthew is a courageous, strong man of faith and integrity which puts him at odds with the decisions he must make. I could feel his struggle as he made those decisions, how his heart is torn between family and duty to his country as he awaits God’s guidance. Will his decisions bring danger to his family, community and himself?
Heather has strengths that I think she did not realize and that strength is soon tested in the coming days and months. She has a strong faith that sustains her as she waits for certain situations to resolve. I admire her heart and compassion for others as they suffer even in the midst of her own suffering and challenges. Will she continue to trust God when things look the darkest, questions go unanswered and the mounting uncertainties?
This is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone book, however, reading them in order will give the reader a fuller grasp of the characters and their relationships. A Heart for Freedom is a gripping tale of the tumultuous beginnings of Colonial America. The story unfolds with rich historical detail woven throughout the story-line bringing to life an emotionally charged, heartwarming story with realistic characters who face many challenges, heartaches and grief, joys, dangers and intrigue, forgiveness, love and enduring faith. As a retired RN I found the medicinal practices for wounds, injuries, ailments and such very interesting. I appreciate the spiritual aspects of the story and the scripture verses that mean so much to the characters that I also find so meaningful. Two of those scriptures are:
– “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8 KJV
– “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6 KJV
A heartwarming and captivating story.
This is my first book from Janet Grunst and I'm already looking forward for more!
I realize I should have read first "A Heart Set Free" but I wasn't aware that this was a sequel... I also think it can still be read as a standalone, although it would be much better to read them in order. I have already bought "A Heart Set Free".
I really loved Matthew and Heather's story! My heart ached for them as they struggle between love and protection of their family, loyalty to their country and many experiences of hardship and pain that war always ensues.
It is portrayed in a very realistic though hopeful way that left me feeling inspired. I loved that their faith in God weaved them through sacrifice, pain, and uncertainty. It was a beautiful story and I fell in love with the characters. So much that I want to know more about what happens next!
I'm not an historian but the telling of the circumstances around the early American Revolution seem accurate and very realistic. It made me want to know more about it!
I highly recommend this story to lover's of historical romances!
