Motherhood is definitely NOT for the faint of heart, as one of the story titles implies, but with encouragement from other women the trip can be navigated successfully! "I HEART MOM" profiles the ups and downs of motherhood, the joys and sorrows, and the poignant looking-back at a time that passes far too quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed each Mom's perspective and could relate to the time in my life when I said the same things. This is a perfect gift to any Mom for Mother's Day. I love the cover design which exemplifies strength and beauty as well as a sassy attitude about life. Great collection of stories! More, please .....
As a male reader I'm intrigued by the thoughts and opinions of women who have actually experienced motherhood ...and survived to tell their stories. These essays confirm the the typical mommy message: The wonderful highs more than offset the terrible lows. I was a bit disappointed that these essays predominantly focused on the writers' perspectives/relationships with their children. Lacking was the writers' perspective/relationships with their own mothers. In this respect a more honest title for the collection might be "I Heart Motherhood." The essays (especially Ms. Lee's) share several concepts that may serve me as a teacher of other peoples' children. The timing of this publication is perfect ...just in time for Mother's Day. I plan to share my copy with my mom and reader friends who are moms.
