I really liked this book. In her down to earth, easy to read style, she presents a biblical view point on these relevant life issues. She looks at guilt, insecurity, a critical spirit, fear, people-pleasing, and other coping mechanisms that so many of us women use to hide behind. In most chapters she suggests other books on the topic that she has found helpful.
I don’t usually take this much time to write a review of a book, but I don’t want this one to be overlooked. I was given this book some months back, and quite frankly had put it at the bottom of my to-read stack. I do not know Mrs. Cline and was not asked to write a review.
Mrs. Cline quotes Ralph Waldo Emerson:
Freedom is not the right to live as we please, but the right to find how we ought to live in order to fulfill our potential.
And here’s one more quote. Mrs. Cline writes:
Now I know the only way to abandon my old hiding places is by finding the courage to choose peace over confusion, calm over chaos, and righteousness over rightness.
I recommend this book and look forward to reading other works by this author.

I found myself relating to the familiar examples of hiding places--things like a critical spirit, guilt, and people pleasing. But Jan didn't leave me in my pain. Her answers were clear and simple, and often sprinkled with humor.
For everyone tired of hiding and ready to discover a new life of joy, A Heart Out of Hiding will give you solid answers and sweet encouragement.
