"The editors have succeeded in the ambitious task of creating a single comprehensive text that reflects both the breadth and depth of this field and, in doing so, have melded the latest contributions from the world's leading experts in the field into a thorough compendium that should serve as a valuable reference for anyone contemplating research in the complex and dynamic area of heart rate variability."
Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology
From the Back Cover
In the 25 years since the first studies concerning RR interval variability in cardiac patients were published, heart rate variability has become a field of wide interest. The aim of this text is to provide a comprehensive overview of heart rate variability, reflecting the range and complexity of this dynamic field, to guide the scientific and professional community, and also to address the need for clinical standards and future research ideas. In order to prevent erroneous conclusions and unfounded extrapolations, efforts have been made to standardise nomenclature, methods for measurement, clinical applications etc. This text attempts to expand on the framework set forth by the joint European Society of Cadiology and North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology Task Force, covering facets of the field in greater detail.
The editors have assembled a team of leaders in the international arena of cardiology, reflecting all aspects of the field; mathematical, engineering, physiological and clinical, to produce a volume which will be valuable to all those participating in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rate variability.
