I rarely read romance but was attracted to this one by the mystery element. The author shows great promise. She has a good imagination which is evident in the plot twists. She gives her characters personality and includes detail to help the reader put themselves fully in the scenes. The story is laid out in a way that keeps the reader interested and curious about what comes next and how things could ever work out satisfactorily.

As a reader of book series that are set in various government agencies, the premise that these people are working for a top secret government black op' s type group comes across as a joke. For the reader who generally restricts themselves to lighter romance fiction it might not be a problem.

As is common with first novels the book gets very wordy. By half way through I was starting to wonder if it would ever end. The author has a penchant for compound sentences that really slows the reading pace. The book would be vastly improved by a good editing. There are enough improperly used commas to populate a whole other book. There are a few sentences that don't make any sense and the usual incorrect words and editing errors commonly found in Google's lower priced books.

I hope the author keeps writing. I believe she has great talent. With a tighter story and good editing she will produce a novel the reader won't be able to put down.

Best book I've read in ages

Heart-shaped Stone has all the elements one would look in a suspense, romantic fiction novel. From the first chapter to the very end, the author portrays incredible detail and allows you to really visualize the reading as if you are in the story as it plays out. There were elements of humor, suspense, romance and twists and turns along the way that kept me guessing.
Being personally close to the author, it was an honor to say I was entrusted to be the first to read and write a review with my thoughts. Being a working mom of a precocious toddler, I can honestly say that these days, I do not get much time for myself, but I will say this book made me want to make time, because all I wanted was to know what happened next.

I recommend this book to any avid reader and hope the same experience when reading as I did.

This book reminds me why I love this genre.
Heart-Shaped Stone, it's a Home run! While you are "running" through the pages you can find:
First base: Suspense
Second Base: Romance
Third Base: Twist and Turns
Home: A grand finale
The author gave us a book full of emotions, a Heroine like Caila, a woman who must re invent herself, and a plot full of mystery. I don't want to give too much info, so please, grab a copy!!
Highly recommended for any type of reader, believe me you are not going to regret it.
