I guess you could say it's an interesting love story. The writing is competent. Maria sounds like a wonderful person. Of course, we know Scott is a wonderful person because he manages to say so at least once on every page. The man is a raging narcissist! Perhaps the story would have been better written in third person. There is also an excruciating amount of detail in the form of menus, clothes shopping, who wore what, etc. The first time I picked it up, I didn't finish the book. I have a thing about that though, so months later I finished. I did pay for it after all. I gave one star for the book and one for helping me overcome my compulsion to finish every single book I buy.

This book is one of the most amazing love stories I've ever read. Maria and Scott were so blessed to have something every one of us at some point in time has dreamed of. As I read it, I realized that there are second chances no matter what age you are. I learned to not be afraid to tell the ones I love how I feel. I was encouraged to accept the things in my life that I can't change and live life to the fullest. To love unconditionally and THANK GOD for sending me my soon to be husband every chance I get. I hope and pray to experience half of what these two wonderful people have. With that being said, please read it. You will be touched in a way you have never been before. It's truly a remarkable story. You will laugh, cry, imagine, wish & remember. But one thing you won't do it regret. I give The Heart Sings two thumbs up and five stars.

This is as good a story as it gets. Two high school lovers reconnect after decades apart and fall in love for the second time. The problem, of course, is our two lovers are older and worn bare by life. Each come to the new relationship with strings—a handful of clingy tendrils connecting to past hurts that make our lovers doubt the sincerity of the thing in front of them—that thing being true love. I won’t give away the twisty ending, however, I predict even the most hardened among you will be touched.

This is a well written book about the love story of two people that had to wait 30 some odd years to find each other again after high school, and ended up living in pretty much the same area of the country. I really enjoyed this story because I grew up and graduated from the same high school in Iowa seven years before their story started, but I felt like I knew them by the end of the story. I laughed and cried with them through out the book. Scott Miller did and excellent job telling the love story of Maria and himself.
