Amy and Hunter have grown up as neighbours, both coming from the troublesome families of the block which has inevitably helped form a bond between them growing up. As adults Amy and Hunter have been happy to be best friends with a casual hook up now and then but Amy's feelings have changed and she is ready for more but Hunter isn't. Hunter is fitting to the title of this book and feels he is not worthy or capable of love and so he cruises through life living on the edge.
Things have begun to change after seeing Jade and Colt settle down and Hunter begins to recognise his life has to change too but he is too pig headed to acknowledge that thought process. As Amy pulls away to try and find her own way in life Hunter begins to recognise what he wants is Amy after all but is it too late?
Poor Amy just can't get a break in life, between having unrequited feelings for Hunter and looking after her increasingly unstable mother she is pulled to breaking point. Once she pulls away from Hunter and starts to date things look like they may start to improve but she soon discovers that things are never that easy.
A tragic event is what it takes for Hunter to finally realise what he almost lost and what an idiot he has been in fighting his feelings but is Amy ready to accept he has finally come around?
I love Tess' books and this series but just felt the ending of this book was a little rushed than I would of liked or maybe I just wanted more from this story. However I am already looking forward to the next book and reading Slade's story.
I was angry with Hunter in the first book and the heartlessness he treated Amy so I had to know how in the world he could possibly redeem himself. I enjoyed this series specifically because the characters were flawed with real human faults. Loved how the authors were able to turn it around. He still wasn't perfect, but I loved the progress.
A few readers kind of bashed the H for having 2 women sleep over, very little sleeping done, while the h is there...and he gets caught. While I understand, kind of, where they are coming from, the H and h had not officially hooked up. So, I didn't feel he was in the wrong.
Overall, I loved the book and one definitely recommend it. I'm reading the 2nd book next and then on to the 3rd!
Hunter is the oldest Stone brother and took on the most abuse from his dad.
After yet another disappointment from Hunter, Amy decides to walk away from any idea of ever having him for herself. Smart plan, if only she can keep her pants on.
After a nearly devastating event occurs, will Hunter get his act together or lose the girl forever?
I really enjoy the stone brothers. I have read colts story first and wondered about street and hunter and now I no longer need to wonder because I just finished heart of stone which indeed is their story. I was intrigued when it had mentioned them and their current situation in the first book so to get to fully understand it was great. I could totally understand hunters reasoning for not opening his heart but it's obvious it was ripped open a long time ago just took him some coaxing.
I really like hunter and street together. It was a good read.
