About the Author
Born in France and having lived in Switzerland, Gabrielle currently resides in Montreal with her husband, three devilish children and an extremely moody cat.
After spending years contemplating a career in writing, she finally jumped off the deep end and took the plunge into the literary world. Writing consumed her and she independently published her work.
Gabrielle's style is fiercely raw and driven by pure emotion. Her love stories leave you out of breath, yearning for more, while at the same time wiping away tears.

Aaron loved Alane and Alane loved him back, but family intervention and misunderstandings drove them apart. Now, separated for almost three decades, they meet again. From the first reuniting, anger, frustration and emotional pain come flooding back, and we are taken on a journey of acceptance and healing.
This was an interesting story about good and decent people who live through and survive the traumatic times that life often brings. I started the book late last night and finished it in one sitting. It held my attention; I enjoyed this very much. I recommend this book if you’re looking for a very satisfying read.

𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖: As high school sweethearts, Alane and Aaron thought they’d found a love to last them a lifetime—but Alane’s father had bigger plans for her than Aaron Gritt. She was destined for hockey greatness.
After Aaron breaks her heart and moves on, Alane’s plans for her future derailed and she ended up far away from her home, her dreams, and the boy she loved.
Twenty seven years later and Alane finds herself back in her hometown to care for her ailing mother. Aaron is now a single father and the proud owner of a respected restaurant. Can meddling family members show these two that their love never truly ended? Or is the past best left in the past?
𝕊𝕖𝕩 𝕊𝕔𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕤: Is it possible for a respectful male to still be totally alpha?? The answer is YES. Aaron and Alane fog up the windows and burn up the sheets (and tables!) with lots of action! There’s even a teensy bit of kink to spice things up! We are going with a FIRM 🔥🔥🔥🔥.5/5–I love a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it. 🙌🏻
【$】: FREE on KU! This is possibly one of Gab’s best books to date. There’s alternating POVs (which I love) as well as a solid pattern of “then” and “now” chapters. Her writing is so beautifully orchestrated and she keeps you on your toes with the intricacies, subplots, and secrets. Definitely worthy of a download!
The book goes back and forth between Then and Now chapters, with each character’s POV. It’s a great tool to see how their relationship built up, fell apart thanks to her father’s meddling, how they each tried (and failed) to move on and then, despite her vow to never return to her hometown, reconnected.
Since these characters are in their mid/late 40s, I thought the way that Gabrielle G handled the big secret was done well. There was a lot of hurt on both sides, and Alane had every reason to think that she had been left behind and didn’t want to have Aaron return to her out of obligation. Sure, he’s hurt by Alane’s secret, but Adam is a very strong-willed and loyal guy, and makes Aaron see that there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his mother. And in a way, it made Aaron realize that he feels the same.
I didn’t realize that Luke and Dex have a book of their own, and I am so very interested in reading that one now! Salome and Chris are supposed to have a book too… interesting, considering his past with her brother. In any event, the Gritt Family series is one that I’ll be looking out for in the future!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Aaron is a moody and brooding teenager and just as moody when he is a forty year old man. So much happened that could have been different if only there had been some honesty and the spiteful people had been thwarted.... but then there wouldn’t be a story.
Alane is the kinky pastor's daughter, now a grown woman in her forties, who has had her heart broken for decades. Her story is one of hope but with a dash of despair and such heartfelt emotions. I love the Gritt family.
The story was easily followed but I’m not a huge fan of then and now, back and forth timelines in a story. I would have preferred a straight timeline but I still loved the end result.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
I'm really and truly in love with it. This book has all what I love in a romance. Heartbreak, drama, emotional breakdown, unbelievable gripping love story and is hot as hell.
Damn, the chemistry between them is just OMG!!!
Alane's and Aaron's book is an unbelievable emotional and gripping story. It's a rollercoaster of hurt feelings and dramatic journey through memories and regrets in an incredible heartbreaking love story.
❤ Do you remember your first love?
❤ Do you think about the what if sometimes?
❤ Do you believe in soul mates and first and only love?
This beautiful story is all about these ifs and the one and only real love, but also about second chances and forgiving at the right time.
An amazing, swoony and sweet love story with so many obstacles and complications that it took 27 years to clear up all of them.
What began with 15 year old girl and boy and led to a disaster and a broken heart, indeed never really ended.
When it's the one, you can't just forget.
When it's the one, you will always think about those ifs and maybes.
When it's the one, it'll haunt you your whole life.
OMG! I love this book so much.
I'm emotional wrecked, my emotions are all over the place and I'm in love with the characters. And not only the main characters 😍
Ok, I think that's enough of the spoilers. This book is a stand alone, but you should read the other books by Gabrielle.
You'll recognize a lot of the characters in this one from her previous books.
I recommend this book to everyone and not only the romance and HEA lovers.
Read it, enjoy it and let me know what you think about it
Bittersweet second chance romance that will give you all the feels! I freaking LOVED this book!!!
Gabrielle G. has written a captivating story with such great characters you feel like you can relate to them and their issues. Their love, their what-ifs and what-nows, just radiated off the pages. Alane Smith and Aaron Gritt journey is truly bittersweet. My emotions were all over the place with this book and I could not turn the pages fast enough.
This is one of the author's best work thus far! I can't wait to read what she comes out with next, especially from the Gritt Family series. Give me some more of Barnabas!!! Heartbroken by Gabrielle G is a hands down EPIC read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
This story starts about Alane & Aaron falling in love in high school. Slowly but steadily. Unfortunately she’s the pastors daughter, so it’s not as easy as one would think. A lot of restrictions surround these two, but they make do anyway. Their love is deep, and they have their lives planned out. But hardly ever anything goes according the way you planned right??
Almost thirty years later Alane returns to her hometown due to a family illness.
What happens when she sees Aaron again for the first time after these long agonizing years??
Such a beautiful heartbreaking second chance story. I loved how the author brought all the feelings to life. So vividly. I was hurting for them while reading. And me feeing for the characters is what’s making it a great story for me!!
