Don't be afraid to read it because of the warning of graphic violence. If you have to, you can skim over those areas. I'm not usually one to read books that warn of graphic violence but I love M/M stories about cops/FBI agents so decided I could skim over areas that made me too uncomfortable. I found I read through most of it because I wanted to learn why Miller was so obsessed with Liam.
I thought the author did a great job with Liam! We got to see the side of him that suffered greatly from what he went through -- the story wouldn't have been what it was without that -- but we also got to see the side of him that wanted desperately to fight his demons and work to move forward after five years. I think the physical relationship with Steele may have happened a bit too quickly for someone who went through what he did -- but I'm not complaining. I loved it! I was concerned the author was going to have Liam return to his pre-trauma self at the end and was happy she handled it in a very realistic manner.
Other than a couple comments he made about Phil in the beginning, I adored Steele's character! He was tough yet tender when it came to Liam. He wasn't afraid to show others his true self and was supportive of Liam from the first time they met. He never got scared away when Liam was in the midst of his anxiety attacks, which would have been easy to do since they had just met each other. He continued to believe that Liam would be an asset to the investigation even when Liam didn't think he had anything to offer to the team. During his darkest times, I wanted so badly to reach in and comfort him like he always did for Liam.
The other reason I wanted to post a review was to beg the author to give us a story of Sam and Luc. Please, please, please!
I hope you take a chance on this book -- it really was very good!
So much potential for more exciting books following this theme.
This book is mainly focused on the suspense story, which was truly wicked and incredibly descriptive in the crime scenes. The love story was enough to really make you care about the men involved and there is such potential in some of the secondary characters...hint hint! With every page read and each step by the various characters my mind was moving at such a fast pace I could feel myself getting worried. That is testament to what a good story this is. Looking forward to more from this author.
The interaction between Steele & Liam is on point. They spar with words and teasing glances and the love they have for the other is powerful and enough to keep the book flowing and not drag. The hints of Sam and Lucifer is like a taste of a delectable but rare desert your not ready for yet but will eventually order. The rest of the agents and simply wonderful and they all come together perfectly!
I can't wait to read more of her M/M books in hopes if a Sam & Lucifer or Aiden book!!!
