Step right up and prepare to be amazed. LH Cosway does it again...

As any fan of LH Cosway knows, this author has a propensity for writing brilliant, vivid stories with otherworldly characters in all sorts of refreshingly unexpected circumstances. Cosway's Hearts of Fire, the second installment and a standalone sequel in the Six of Hearts series, is no different in the fact that it's another insanely different storyline from anything I've read before. Hearts of Fire is a story of a traveling circus troupe, a group of odd personalities who never remain in one place, who keep moving because they're each running away from something. They all have demons, secrets, things that haunt them and people who seek them. So they move on with this circus, this peculiar group that continues to accept them despite their differences. They're unusual individuals, having nothing in common really, except their commonality of needing to escape. And so begins the story of how Lille Baker ran away with the circus...

Lille isn't free. Though a legal adult, she's a pawn in her domineering mother's game of life, controlled in every aspect of her life. Her job, her education, her attire, her weight, who she dates, where she goes, what she spends, all of it meticulously controlled by her mother. She's an artist. She has dreams, goals, a checklist of things she wants to accomplish in her life. Her suffocation under the hands of her mother is tangible. And the door to freedom is unlocked for the first time when she's invited to join the traveling circus passing through her Irish town.

Fire-breathing, knife-wielding, brooding Jack McCabe is a thoroughly enigmatic character. (And, excuse me, but did someone mention a man bun?

L.H. Cosway can do no wrong when it comes to writing romance with wit and heart. This is absolutely no exception. I've been waiting with bated breath for release ever since its release was scheduled. Six of Hearts doesn't have to be first but I think you get a much better complete picture if you do. Also why skip anything she writes when that book is just as fantastic.

This is Jack's story and it was as sad as it was beautiful. He had a rough go of it. When he meets Lille, he isn't really sure he deserves her light. Lille has had different experiences but she hasn't had the easiest life either. Together they learn not just about each other but about themlves. Watching their relationship mature was a wonderful thing that had me grinning from ear to ear. I swooned when I read The Story of Jack and Lille and that epilogue. I can only wish for that epilogue to be brought to life. I can only imagine how fantastic that whole scene would be in real life. It also shows just genie perfect Jack and Lille are for each other.

Getting Caught up with Matilda and Jay was a major bonus. He did take over the focus of the story for a bit, but it totally worked for the storyline and never detracted from Jack's story. I really hope we see more of both couples when we get Oliver King's story next. He was very intriguing and I hope to get his HEA soon.

If you like sweet HEA's, characters that define the norm, and beautiful, soul searing love stories, L.H. Cosway has what you need.

After the intensity of Six of Hearts, HEARTS OF FIRE was a let down in a number of ways.

The premise of a young woman in her early 20's having less than twelve hours to decide to run away with the circus is an intriguing one. Unfortunately, Lille is not a very interesting female lead. She is naive and malleable. I would have loved to see her show some backbone. The silly incident of smashing her cell phone doesn't count. (Hello.... take out the battery if you don't want to be tracked.) I found her relationship with her mother to be too simplistic. Her willingness to enter Jack's world of sexual kink was too easy. Lille was frequently a damsel in distress which is unappealing. It would have been great to see some evidence of a backbone.

I enjoyed the idea of Jack's character, but felt as if he were a bit wooden. Some of his lengthier speeches fell flat. I get the sex, but somehow the passion was missing.

Whether this story works ultimately depends on whether the reason that the brothers have been separated for most of their lives is believable. Given Jay's incredible research into his past and years of planning the scheme in Book 1, it would seem that a brother who had spent almost a year in a coma would have popped up as newsworthy at some point. That wouldn't have bothered me so much if I had been swept away by the romance or the plot.

The mystery aspect of the book fell flat and Jan's involvement in the resolution was contrived.

It felt like Cosway was in such a hurry to introduce King, the leading male in Book 3, that Jack and Lille were given short shrift. This is evident throughout the book, but especially blatant at the end.

5+ Hearts of Fire is definitely on my top of 2015 list. There wasn’t anything I didn’t love about Jack and Lille’s story. Hearts of Fire can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read Jay and Matilda’s story Six of Hearts. If you are looking for a different read you should be reading L.H. Cosway. With all the trends going on in the book world right now her books are a breath of fresh air. The way she uses her words to paint a very vivid picture is amazing. Although HoF is a modern day setting, reading about The Circus Spektakulär you almost felt like you were in another time period.

Lille Baker’s life changes when The Circus Spektakulär arrives in her small town in Ireland. Lille is working a summer job as a waitress, and she paints children's faces on weekends. Lille is being forced by her mother to go to University for accounting and have a nice stable boring life. At work one day Lille meets the older woman running the circus and handsome young Jack. The woman gives Lille a flier to attend there last show in town. After the show is over she leaves with an offer to go with them to France. Lille craving adventure takes off and joins the circus. Jack being drawn to Lille, and knowing the dangers that lurk in the circus life, is angry that Lille is going with them.

Jack and Lille (yes their names are whimsical, keep reading to see why this was so cool) were fantastic characters. Jack McCabe is my new BBF he was everything I want in a male lead. He was untouchable, sexy, vulnerable, broken, sweet, protective, loving, and even a little kinky. *swoon* The sexual tension between Jack and Lille was amazing but the first scene with them touching although fully clothed was smoking hot.

“You have never been invisible to me, flower. You’re all I see.
