This time around we find a happy Kate and Sam along with Daniel and Carly, the unhappy ones seem to be Landry and Jack. Landry is the town dressmaker, know as a bit of a proper girl around town and not really seeing anybody. She is friendly with Jack, the town Marshall, but knows he is the town player, so she keeps her distance. Since both Landry and Jack are best friends with Kate and Sam, they seem to always be in the same place at the same time.
Yes Jack is known to sew his wild oats, but now after seeing how happy being in love has made his best friend, he decides it is time to make his move towards Landry.
Landry has had a pretty big crush on Jack from afar, thinking she wasn't "wild" enough for him, she kept it strictly friends. However lately she's noticing Jack acting different around her, a bit more friendly and flirty. These two start bantering back and forth until finally a tragedy pushes them closer together.
The next thing we know, we are on a treasure hunt with the towns folk of Hidden Springs, while cheering on Landry and Jack as a couple. There is some back and forth due to insecurity on both sides and just like Sam and Kate, you want to smack them and tell them to open their eyes to what is standing in front of them!
The Hidden Springs series is my first historical romance genre and I really have enjoyed both books. I like the setting and even if it is a historical romance, Kristine Raymond doesn't hold back on the sexy, there is just way more clothes to take off in this era. =) The book is well written and keeps you interested until the end. We aren't left with a cliffhanger, but with the set up to the next book, which I will also be reading.
Hearts on Fire is book #2 in a series but it can be read as a stand-alone...but it will captivate you to read others in the series.
Ms. Raymond introduces us to two hearts...two souls meant to be together but with a little work. The undeniably sexy Marshall of the town, Jack Tanner and the beautiful and independent Ms. Landry Prescott. Landry has had a thing for Jack since she first met him but won't admit it. Jack thinks she's just not interested in him. He's a womanizer and she believes she can't compete for his attention.
The plot thickens...mysteries unravel and a spark ignites. And what a spark it is...ok, enough...no more spoilers. You must read this romance and enjoy it as much as I did.
Definitely adding more of Ms. Raymond to my TBR.
