Noa's voice was mute in the past as the sound of many women who have been educated and grown up around decisive and confident male voices.
Noa tells her story from different perspectives and a number of voices:
the expected, rational and logical story and at the same time she tells the covered story of the inner voice that reveals a very associative, feminine and emotional mind. She weaves her world through thoughts, dreams, memories, and imaginations.

Noa is an older Jewish lady who can't help but have very strong feelings for Amar, who is a younger Arab man. Nothing about these two go together. They do not share a culture or an age group, but they do share a strange and intense love. Will it be enough?
This is a strong *forbidden love* tale with even stronger characters. I really liked learning about the Israeli and Palestinian cultures. Before this book I really had no idea what they were like and it was interesting to see that even though they are so incredibly different, in the end we are all the same.
Lastly, I couldn't write this review without at least mentioning the amazing illustrations. I would find myself just staring at them for several minutes. They added a nice touch to an already amazing story. Highly recommend to any fans of romance novels.
In short I could not put down this astounding book that engulfed my mind and sense well into the late night hours. Author Chava Epstein has simply crafted a masterpiece in this sweeping love story filled with vivid imagery and profound meaning.
The main characters Noa and Amar are developed to perfection allowing the reader to fully embrace the love, passion and emotions felt, as the storyline grows deeper into the plot. Both are multi-dimensional in a fashion that will enthrall the imagination and have you glued to your reading device.
This story made me smile, laugh and cry as I read about the conquest of a 51-year-old Israeli Jewish woman (Noa) who was deeply longing for a 28 year-old Palestinian Arab (Amar). The clashes between Israel and Palestine hinder their love from flourishing and the journey begins to save what they cherish the most… each other.
Simply brilliant in a gripping captivating way that I highly recommend to all!
5 Stars and cant wait to see what Author Chava Epstein writes next.
Noa is an Israelite woman in her fifties who has ventured into emotional territories unknown. Finding her courage, she has reclaimed her life and filed for divorce from her husband, a man who stole her paintings, her love and her part of his pension. Now, she is struggling to find her soul in the aftermath. Fresh from a failed love affair with a man who tempted her heart, Chaim, she is attending a Mutual Advice workshop – here both Jews and Arabs come together, Israelites sitting next to Palestinian’s. While on the outside this seems fraught with political ramifications, inside we understand that the heart knows no borders, nor age. Noa, in her fifties, is attracted and drawn to the much younger Amar, 28 and Palestinian. Relationships between workshop members is no allowed, yet she feels the connection in a soul level, even as her mind rejects the reality of her feelings.
This story is a heartfelt glimpse into the heart and soul of a woman not sure of her own worth. There is transformation, heartache, loss and renewal. Some might consider this a Romeo and Juliet type story with the opposing nationalities and the stress that causes – yet this is far from that tragic tale. This has a maturity that play lacked, an honesty of emotions that realize things don’t always work, but sometimes it take more courage to face your truth than hide behind fate.
Each chapter starts with a beautiful rendering, art work offered by Epstein that hints at the narrative and completes this beautiful book.
The pictures in this book are so in tune with what the writer is portraying, and the art reminds me of the art from long ago, that is meant not just "for show" but to be felt with your heart and talked over.
Chava's deep articulation of this story between to "who knew" lovers who you would think, have nothing in common with each other. The story is very light and airy through the whole thing. It's like when you watch a movie and the main characters are so in love that you just sigh at the end.
I will definitely be sharing this book with my friends and book club members. 2 thumbs way up!
Very unique story and good character development. Enjoyed it.
