Aiden Callahan is a thirty year old sexy, rich, successful business man. Not a life he wanted or chose. He'd rather be giving surfing lessons. Life is not always what you want. When tragedy hits his family he is the only one left to do the responsible thing and take care of the people who depend on him. Even if it chokes him. Companionship is something Aiden has never had to work at. Lately there has been only one woman on his mind, the one he could never have or shouldn't even want.
Heart Breaker was a great read for me. The more I read the more I liked it. I felt true empathy for the characters. That is how real Cole St. Jaimes brought these characters to life for me. I can not believe this is his first book. The storyline flowed with such ease some seasoned authors have not achieved. I will be recommending this book to all my friends. Can't wait for the next book.
Essie and her brother Vaughn have had a rough life. Lost their parents young, lived in shelters, barely make enough to scrape by, but things started looking up. They had their own apartment, furniture, jobs. Nothing was brand new but it was new to them and they had a place they could call home.
Aidan and his family always seemed to be at odds. Him with their expectations of him and they with their disappointment that he wouldn't acquiesce and join the family business. Aidan was enjoying surfing in Hawaii and was making enough to get by teaching tourists on the beach how to surf. He had no desire to enter the corporate world and no need for his family's money.
One fateful night changes everything in an instant for both Aidan and Essie.
Essie begins to harbor a misplaced hatred for Aidan and what his brother took from her while Aidan laments the loss of his freedom and resents the new corporate wardrobe that has become his existence. It doesn't matter that he is good at what he does, it's not truly what he wants to do.
Essie puts a plan for revenge in motion that takes years to come to fruition but when the end goal is in sight the rules change abruptly and she is left to decide if this is still worth it or if she should let the hatred go.
An amazingly powerful read. The emotions and reasoning of the characters is perfection and Aidan's outlook on women and body shapes is refreshing and welcome. Definitely want more. Like now, please!
The characters had depth to them and as a reader, you feel for each of them for what they had to go through. The book leads up to a powerful point in the story, then HANG ON! It's going to be a bumpy ride. And things aren't what they appeared and lines started blurring. Man, oh man! I felt like I had been through the wringer on this one! I cannot wait to read Part 2! I need it oh, 5 minutes ago! Mr. Saint Jaimes, you're breaking my heart.... I have to know more and see what happens to Essie and Aidan. Well done, sir, on the captivating read!
I absolutely loved Essie & Aidan's story. The fact that it alternates between both POV, I was able to relate to both characters. I was rooting for both of them. When tragedy ties them together it really never lets go. It's amazing how after time passes they still have their eyes on each other but for completely different reasons. To forgive or avenge, which will be the outcome? I enjoyed the tug of war between Essie and Aidan and Essie's own internal tug of war with herself. Of course I want more, but where Cole St. Jaimes leaves it...it's perfect. Sigh.
This story was unique as well as the writing style. Not something you come across all the time. I can't wait to see what will happen in the upcoming book. Great debut novel!

This is a very fun book to read. The only fault is that the climatic part of the story was at the end.Read more
